I replaced the lock plate but didn't remove it. I could have put the A4 retainer in place of the lock plate, I suppose. But failure of the ECL to unlock will still cause the fuel cut off fuction to activate, won't it? It would be reassuring to know that the new module was redesigned with long term reliability in mind and not just renumbered.

I went ahead and installed the GM Harness K kit, including replacing the lockplate, on my 04 Z06.

Installed thunder's CLB in my Y2K 6speed and in my old 98 6speed...no problems here...I too got the recall notice from GM and decided to put it in my circular filing bin (trash can).

Note: I guess in SOME 97-98's the CLB might not work according to ThunderRacing...

According to a salesman from a stealership you can demand that they leave your tune. IMHO buy the CLB install it yourself and be done with it.

Does a telescopic steering wheel option make any difference with the locking problem or the recall fix? Is it more complicated (read this more risky to take to the dealer)?
Thanks
