Default Aussie Clutch

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

I have put about 500miles on my car so far.

The first few miles the clutch had almost no play at all. LIke 1/8" on or off. Now it has a nice smooth engagement and plenty of room of travel. It shifts very fast and very smooth.

I ran about 8 runs at the track on wednesday night. I ran my best ever
11.644 @ 122.76- 1.712 60'. at 5000ft of elevation

The clutch never had a hint of slippage or smell or anything. Just grabbed and went to town.

I will keep you posted on how it lasts.

But so far this thing is awesome.

I highly suggest you check it out.

By the way their CUSTOMER SERVICE is the best EVER. Pete and Jeff should do seminars to other companies on how to treat people.

web site

For those that dont know my car.

I have a TTi X on a forged 346Ci running 11lbs of boost at 7000ft above sea level.

Great news! Mine is at the house waiting to be installed. Thanks for the post and your impresions. I thought I saw a post somewhere saying these did not need a break in That can not be right. Thanks again!

I barely put miles on it and was at the track. I think it beds up pretty quickly.

I will be heading to the track in about three 3 weeks. I am doing the ECS Alky kit and upping the boost. I am going to try and get a 10sec run at my altitude.

I just got the break-in period completed (600 miles) on my Aussie clutch and new DTE 3.90's and have car back in shop getting painted now.
I'll be taking it to LGM to get tuned after the paint job is completed then will have it at the track for the real testing.
Lovin' it so far!

I was looking at the aussie unit, being not completely satisfied with my current setup. I spoke with chris at ECS and he mentioned another unit to me that he has been installing and thinks highly of (RPS). Then I seen a few other posts about A&A selling the RPS unit. I also found a post at LS1 Tech about the same unit. Here is a copy of the post.
Hello. I recently picked up a Carolina Clutch Stage 3 from Tom. They are a great company to deal with and I'd highly recommend them.

The Stage 3 is a relatively new concotion that is very lightweight (20+lbs lighter vs. stock) and has very good power handling (600+hp). It is a dual friction clutch meaning the friction disc has different surfaces on each side of it. The included aluminum flywheel is a very very nice piece and has replaceable friction surfaces. In addition, the threaded sections have threadserts installed which is a nice touch. The whole clutch assembly comes pre-balanced and ready to install.
The install was easy, though I had some air in the line that the Mity Vac couldn't get. I did an unintentional gravity bleed which did the trick. The clutch uses stock hydraulics and does NOT need any shims.

The clutch is a dream. Pedal pressure is firm, but by no means tiring or annoying. It fells "right." By this I mean you can easily modulate the pedal if you are in a stop/go situation, but the pedal pressure never becomes bothersome. Women/children will have no problem using the pedal.

Here is my setup-
1987 RX7 (sub 2650 pounds)
LS1 with Force Fed High Performance stage 2 heads, FM13 cam, LS6 intake
335 tires in back

The clutch grabs wonderfully and with no chatter. I was unable to get any chatter, ever, even during the first drive. Engagement is as firm as you want it to be- is is easy to slip around town and clamps like a vice when slamming through the gears. In addition, it holds power just fine. Tom stated that they are having no problems using the clutch in 600hp Cobras, and I have no reason to believe that it would do just fine in a higher power/weight environment.
The clutch does the trick of being an outstanding street clutch that can ealisy double as a hardcore racing clutch. In addition, you'll get a decent HP increase by lightening the driveline by 20 pounds and road racing guys will love the increased response to help match revs. While guys with more than 600rwhp may want to consult Tom about the usage, this clutch would be perfect for anything from a stock LS1 to a 427. I realize that the Textralia clutch has been getting a lot of press, but this clutch delivers and has great service to back it up.

I have spoke with both andy @ A&A and Chris @ ECS and I believe the RPS is best suited for me. Thought i would throw in my 2 cents.

I just had my AUssie clutch put in.. got it from A&A during a group buy..

I can definatly tell the difference.. I am getting a little chatter when I first start off but nothing huge...

you can definatly feel the difference.. there is no slippage what so ever..

I have about 100 miles on it.. once I get another 500 or so I am hitting the track along with my new 4.10s...

Well researched and written. Sounds like we now have two clutches that we can go with and be secure in them holding up, thanks for the review.

Does it come with Master/Slave Cylinders and Pilot/Throwout Bearing?

I am getting sick and tired of my sticking clutch pedal. I need a clutch bad real soon and I am inclining more towards Aussie Clutch.

Thanks

I don't think it comes with a master...

I'm going to order one of these clutches ASAP
