anti skid system
If I give the brakes a good push so as to decelrate at a high rate I sometimes feel my brake pedal pulsate. This pulsating is not like the kind one feels when a brake rotor is warped but is more mecahnical in nature. I can hear it also at the same time. It sounds mecanical like a tickatickatickaticka in very rapid succesion coming from my front end/break pedal.
The sound and feel of my brakes when I'm stoping this way is consitent with a valve opening and closing in rapid order. Is this my anti skid system activating? Is this the anti skid valve opening and closing as advertised when one is stoping quickly that the tires want to skid but that the anti skid system is doing its job normally?
Or might there be something worng with my car?
Thanks in advance.
Matt

You need to expirrence how they work and get comfortable with them so that when you REALLY need them you wont panic.
The real sweet part about ANTI-LOCK and Active Handling (if you have it) is being able to steer around an obsticle while you have your foot mashed to the floor on the brakes!
Throw a cone in the middle of an empty parking lot, run at it at 40 mph and at the last second cram on the brakes and steer around it!! It works like a champ!!
If you practice this ahead of time, when a real situation arises, you will come out of it smelling like a rose!!

Also, sorry for the wrong nomenclature as to my refering to the "anti skid sytem" instead of the "anti lock sytem". I happen to be in the aviation career field and this type of system is refered to as the anti skid sytem. Anti Skid/Anti Lock both work in the same manner to accomplish the exact same thing. However, in an aircraft you don't feel nor do you hear the system operating through the brakes. ....I know, I know who cares; we're talking vettes here not planes so I'll shut up.....
Anyway thanks again for the good info.
