Replacing shocks in 2002, how difficult?

Replacing shocks in 2002, how difficult?
Don't have a manual. can anyone talk me through front and rear shock replacement
I am a C4 guy, where you can see everything

Torque on rears is quite high. On the fronts, you need to compress the shock and hold in the compressed position both to remove and install.

Do you need a "spring compressor" or similar tool?
When you say torque is high, high?
If you are simply replacing brake pads at the same time, can you get to the shocks without removing other stuff?

I used a wire coat hanger to hold the shock compressed both in and out, some people use cable ties (two sets per shock because one set sometimes doesn't hold). Job went easy both front & back usinga floor jack (and stand) and one wheel at a time.
