Never done an auto. Think you would have to pull the starter and wedge the ring gear or use a strap wrench on the pulley.
Yeah, but how?
The Service Manual calls for using a "flywheel holding tool", aka flywheel lock. Where do you get one? All the searches I've done came up a blank, including parts direct, google, ebay, etc.
And I ask again: who makes a better than OEM stock size replacement harmonic balancer?

^^seem like overkill to me just wedge something in there but>
I know of no better pulley than stock unless you like the underdrive type the tuners sell. The stock ones do not typically have probelms unless they are reinstalled to less than specs.

What I'm really looking for is a flywheel lock , not a turner, that will work with the engine still in the car. I guess the choice is OEM balancer or aftermarket underdrive only. I wish someone would make a good OEM-sized replacement.

ATI SuperDamper, P/N 917246 Phone # 410-298-4343
Stock size is 7.125" dia.
Again if you pin the damper to the crankshaft there is no reason to do the 240 ft lbs.+ to stretch the bolt.
Your going to need a new bolt anyway so just pop for the $26.00 ARP bolt and be done with it. (it's reusable anyway).
