Not hard if your mechanically inclined. There is some adjustment required to set the tension on the rocker arms (called valve lash) Spring changes are normally done with the heads off, but can be done with the heads on if your careful and have the correct tools.

A fairly ambitious project if your not used to pulling an engine apart, but not impossible by any means.

The rockers are not adjustable, just torque to spec. The
springs are easy to change with the heads on. I would have
a shop do it if you aren't mechanically inclined.

Good luck

Having never done this on an LS1 and trying to stay away from old pre-conceived notions from the orignal S.B. with rocker arm studs and Nylock nuts, I am just wondering if the center block of the LS1 roller rockers sets on the rocker arm post and is held there by the through bolt. Is the torque requirement simply to prevent stripping out the aluminum threads if overtightened and the bolts loosening if under torqued?

Are you re-installing stock rockers or looking to aftermarket? Stock rockers are tightened to 22 lb-ft. However, any changes in head/cam/gasket/etc. may require a pushrod change as the pushrod determines lifter preload. Not sure of what you are up to.

Vettenuts: Will be putting on new head and cam which will most likely have a smaller base circle. Also planning hardened pushrods, which come in various lengths and will need longer pushrods. I just want to verify that the stock rocker arm fulcrum seats on the pedastel, held there by the bolt. The torque is just for holding, and the geometry creates the lifter preload depth (.02" to .06" ?) and puts the rockerarm tip at the right place on the valve stem.
