Anyone know which ramps are ideal for getting under a C5? Or does anyone have some specs or dimensions for building wooden ones out of 2 x 12s? If I understand it correctly, ramp angle should be no greater than 15 degrees so the front end won't hit. I'm thinking of having Home Depot cut the wood for me so I need to figure out length specs beforehand.
Rhino Ramps are used here. They're light and about $50. They do make the Low Profile Rhino Ramps for about $70. Sold at your Lowes & Home Depot stores. As far as the standard rhino ramps, I place a 2x4 in front of the ramp to get started and w/o hitting the front end.
Info on the low profile rhinos:
Sturdy, durable ramps allow for safe access to the underside of your vehicle. Structural foam plastic construction makes these ramps strong enough to handle most loads (12,000 lb. GVW capacity) with Core-Trac non-skid feet.
17 degree incline allows for low clearance vehicles. Works great for cars, pick-ups, sport-utilities and vans. Blitz RhinoRamps - a must for your garage!
Rhinos are too steep for a lowered C5 and just barely shallow enough for a stock C5. I designed a pair that have an 11 or 12 degree slope - plenty shallow enough for my C5.
Unfortunately, tooling costs are very steep, so I made my own wooden versions at an 11-degree angle. They get the front end up high enough so that I can slide the hydraulic floor jack underneath the crossmember. It is actually a wedge next to a block, both screwed to a flat board.
