Yep. Those are drilled and slotted rotors. Put em on - they'll look good.
EDIT: I see what you're talking about. I would imagine the one with the groove is for the front and the one without is for the rear or the other way around.
Normal. Naw,, I don't consider anything I do as Normal,, but the rotors aren't normal either,, Just better than most if they are quality build. I have a set I plan to install this month just like the ones you have. 99 Nassau Blue
They are both rear rotors, just one has the groove cut into it. I bought them from the group purchase/ sale in the forsale section. I wouldn't do it again.
Those look like TWO DIFFERENT ROTORS FOR TWO DIFFERNT CARS or were finished at two differnt plants. One plant put the groove in the other plant did not.
Yes those are both rear rotors. What is the outter diameter of each rotor??
almost all rotors are made by Raybestous or their parent company United Brake Parts. Then sent to aftermarkert companies to finish, and in some cases nickle or zinc platting, put in fancy boxes and have big mark ups.
Is it normal to have one with a groove cut in to it?
Mine had a groove cut in the hat as well but it had the letters "LR" inside the groove. Thats how I determined the direction of the rotors for installation.
That is not normal, they should be a matching set, but they may work OK. Since left and right rotors are different I bet those are just different batches cut at different times. In the photo the right one looks larger but if they are in fact the same OD they will probably work just fine. Just check to be sure the pad don't hang over the groove, that may cause problems as the pads wear. The rear pads on these cars is pretty skinny from inside to out. My guess is the inside of the pad will come right up to the grove but not hang over the groove. As long as the pad don't hang over in the grove, I would run them, they do look pretty.
they may be the same size, but they certainly are not the same design. Notice the inner 1/2 inch collar on the one and conspicuously missing on the other. RMA is your friend...
If the brake pad rides over that grove it will squeel. The pad will form over it as it weares and cause a break squeel. If the pad dosen't ride over it, it would only look diffrent. You should get the correct rotors though. It may be a blem.
Flip it over and you can tell if it is front or rear. There should be a drum brake on the rear rotors for the e-brake.
The one on the right looks like a front rotor, but the front "hats" usually slant down like the pics above with the red calipers. Probably just two different casts.

No way can they both be rear rotors one is larger diameter than the other, one has to be for the front

They are both rears and the same size. I measured them both and also put them back to back to each other. One having the groove cut into it makes its look smaller. I just read in another post that it was a shipping mistake or quality control issue and they are going to send me another rotor. There are a few other people who are having the same issues.
