Hi I noticed in a thread how you could pull spark plug wire #3 to get that lopey sound. Well I have a stock motor but would like a more agressive idle as well. If I pulled that wire would I get the a similiar lopey sound? Will this affect performance in a negative or positive way? Is it safe? Will it harm my motor? Will it throw any codes? Why are the disadvatnages of doing so?
All I can Say Is OMG
will it effect performance? OMG
You dont have the right to own a Corvette for you who are a little dense The above was a joke.....too.
I suggest you leave your car stock and dont do anything to it but put gas in it....
You're the guy with the black car who wanted to know about painting Z06 brake ducts....

Pulled my #3 plug wire and on the dyno I picked up 21 rwhp and 13 ft/lb of torque. Car lopes like hell now too! Gotta love these tech tips on the forum! Thanks guys

I thought painting the duct black serves to excite the incoming air as well as smooth the duct walls, thereby increasing velocity which enhances the cooling ability?
Whatever man, I am 18 I know little aspects of the engine. I thaught the only stupid question was the one you do not ask. I go to this forum trying to learn things without being ridiculed............obisviously you guys have been mechanical experts since you came out of our mother. Don't take it personally. It's not directed at you. Some of us have wierd ideas in our heads that are just waiting for an excuse to come out.
Incidentally, I pulled all 8 plug wires, and now I never have to buy gas.
I pulled the #3 plug and took it to MTI in Houston, and my car lost 31rwhp. Jason asked me "what the hell was I doing???" Come guys whats the deal?????????????????

please help, what did i do wrong?
Sick c-5...........did you pull the wire from the coil pack or at the plug??? It does make a difference.... you are probably getting some minor plug arcing causing the loss of rear wheel power......next time please do a search... there are at least 5 million threads about this already.
Thanks
J

Don't sweat it... now you know. =)
The plug wires deliver the electrical charge from the coils to the spark plugs. If you disconnect a plug wire, yeah it'll sound different, because you're only running on 7 out of 8 cylinders. Probably still enough to beat a Mustang though
have you ever thaught about pulling the wires out of your asses?
Now that one was funny.. Hey, you know what, the vast majority of us here worked for many, many years to purchase a car like a C5, so yes, we are beyond pulling spark plug wires, or "fart can" exhaust, or neon lights under the car (well, most of us anyway! ). I have a younger brother that I'm always steering in the right direction, so I understand.
To answer your question, regardless of how much lope it creates, pulling a plug is a poor trade off, unless you were sitting in a parking lot idling, impressing your "import tuner" friends.
