It seems like everytime I touch my car I end up in here asking for help on what I thought was going to be an easy job...
I'm replacing my ECBM on my '02 coupe and have followed the service manual up to the point where it says "Separate the EBCM from the BPMV by gently pulling apart until separated."
It ain't moving.
to get the dumb mistakes out of the way: All six screws are out, and the insulator bolts are off so the BPMV is just sitting lose in the bracket.
Thought this was going to be an easy job, any idea what's keeping it together? How much force can these things take? Can I take a screwdriver to it and pry it apart?
the screwdriver trick was what did if for mine too.
The insulator nuts let you pick up the unit a couple of inches, but not much rotation. Next time I would not bother removing them. The only reason I did this time was because I couldn't get it off at first and thought that might help a little -- it didn't.
