So I got out the steering rack and my problem now is I cant get balancer bolt loose. I have an inpact wrench on it and it wont budge. The shop that installed maggie put it on so tight I cant get it loose. Are there any tricks to get this out? Things were going so smooth.
I got it all apart today and the cam bolts had about one thread left before they would off came out. I took a pic off the bolts when I took cover off, just dont know how to post it. Now I start the reinstall hope it goes smooth. Thanks again for eveyones input. You guys saved me from loosing my motor. It only has 2000 miles and 100 with maggie. I cant thank you guys enough!
The only thing I am not sure of is how you get your pins re-aligned for the damper installation. I have the tool if you need it, don't use the bolt to put it back on you will screw up your crank threads.
I noticed on bottom of timing cover where the two bolts go there is some white stuff like gasket sealer. Do I need to put anything on there before I reinstall?
Yes, you need to use some red silicone. Did you red loctite the cam gear bolts after cleaning them?
I will find a photo of my timing cover prior to installation.
Here is the timing cover prior to install, put a dab in each corner on the block where the oil pan cover meets the timing cover corner. Clean real good first though.
I mentioned the timing chain damper, didn't know if you knew what it was so here is a photo.

Thanks for the picture, Im glad I asked. I did clean an loctite cam bolts already. Tomorrow I will start to put everything back on. I was told to leave timinig cover bolts loose until balancer is installed so it doesnt mess up seal going in. How much time do you have to get that all in before gasket sealer sets up to tighting timinig cover?
Not much. I have a tool that you can use for alignment that will allow you use set the timing cover seperately. I wish you were closer, it would be a lot easier.
Have you figured out how to re-align the pins that were drilled in the end of the crank?
I not to shure yet. I was told that you can heat balancer to 300 degrees for twenty minutes and it should slide about half way on. If I do that I think I may be able to get it lined up. It would be alot eaiser for me if we were closer.

Well I finally got it all back together and took it out for a good ride. Everthing seems fine.It actually seems faster would this problem make the car run slower? Again thanks for all the help.
It only took me four times but I got it. I made lines with a marker and lined up with crank, but stiil wasnt easy. Ive been driving the car all weekend and no problems
Curious how you got the pins back in the crank snout?
I bet if you got a piece of steel rod about 6" lond and just about the same size as the pins, you could use it as a guide to get the damper hole properly aligned with the hole on the crank, it would line up easier!
Well,,I guess you really cant call them a hole. There really only a half of a hole!
