Default Spark plug removal

Apparently one of the back spark plugs on the C5-LS1 is difficult to remove. Is the "Sidewinder" wrench the one that is good for plug removal in this difficult area?

Don't waste your money on a sidewinder. The head of the ratchet is too big and the little handle at the end always turns being a general nusiance. I did my plugs using a flex head ratchet (proto, snapon also has one) and a universal spark plug socket ( a spark plug socket with a builtin universal at the end). I found the hardest part to be removing the plug wires. I didn't remove anthing extra. I just removed the red beauty covers. Disconected the wires from the coils. Heres the hard part. At each plug grab real tight on the boot and rotate one full turn to break loose. Then continue to rotate and pull. Its tough but works. I cound not find any tool to help on this part. Once the wires are off the rest is easy using the above tools. Hope this helps.

I bought the Snap-On socket that has the two ball joints built in, one of the best tools I have but it is a little pricey.

Default same problem

I just put each piece in separately, saved a trip to the store.

plug socket, extension, and then rachet...

plug wires, i was replacing mine anyway, so pop away. Unless you plan on reusing these.

Double 90 degree joint or "knuckle" does the job with ease.

Lisle, adjustable spark plug wire puller, part # 51750. About $ 25. 00. Lisle Corporation, Clarinda, Iowa, 51682. Snap - On uses this tool under a different # and calls it a Snap - On tool. It works great. I got mine at Pep Boy's. Good Luck !
