IMO I don't think this little 383 is doing too bad considering it's making almost the same power as the 402 guys. In addition, it's also 100 lbs lighter than a 402 setup.
Bob, I would spend some time really upgrading your suspension, brakes plus getting a 6 point cage before swapping engines. Just my 2 cents.

EG - really I am not upgrading the engine until it dies. I just want to gather some information now so that hopefully I have time to figure out what will work best for me.
Regarding suspension I am in the middle of that too. I added T1 bars and new shocks this year, but I think I am going to a full T1 setup. I like the idea of coilovers, but not sold on them yet.
Brakes have been updated enough for now. After changing over to a racing pads I realized that the stock calipers are really good as long as you also change to a race brake fluid so until I get to the next level I am leaving them alone although I am adding cooling ducts.

I think coilovers with the T1 sways and urethane bushings are as good as it gets.
Wow, is a LS6 383 weight that much less than a LS2 402?
100lbs on the front of your car is quite a bit for a road racing Vette, not to mention in the worse area.
Actually I want to correct myself....on an LQ9 block it's 100lbs lighter....I'm not entirely sure on a 402 LS2 so I'll gladly admit there may be no weight difference at all. Does anyone happen to know the weight dif?
Edit: sorry EG, didn't even see ya were already on it.

LQ9 is an iron block. LS2 is aluminium. The LS1 & the LS2 weigh the same

I have 408 LQ9 in my FRC and cant tell that the motor is 100 or so heavier. One thing is for sure, the iron block runs a LOT cooler than the aluminum!!! Dont know why but I never go above 194F with AC on in traffic on a 100F day.
what you are looking at is one of the early test Warhawk blocks made for mock up purposes only. The "other" LS1 tech site has pictures of the Warhawk block with water jackets.
