The problem with hockey pucks is if you are on the road and need your car lifted, they won't use them. I carry the billet ones with me at all times because most places won't have them.
Why wouldn't anyone use them????????? I made my own and everyone that has used them never complained.

Do you mean friends or a tire/service location? The service locations I have dealt with stated they wouldn't risk using rubber hockey pucks. Mind you I use them at home, but the billets go on the road with me.
No one wants to become a member of the FPC "Flying Puck Club!
So THAT'S what the guy was talking about the other day. I couldn't exactly understand if he said I took one or go take one, but now at least I have some idea of what he was talking about.
Man who sells billet ones???! I could only imagine the amount of suckage if the damn car fell off these things while I was changing the rims. They sell these for $50 a pair, and I feel quite ripped off right now... I still have 2 left that were never used....

I mean the "few" companies that have had to jack my car up such as Wheel Workz and Direct Tire. I guess you've run into some shops that feel leary about the pucks but I haven't yet. The pucks I made are about two years old and have worked flawlessly. Now I've got to go find some wood to knock on.
Also, the thing I like about the double stack hockey pucks is that it give you enough clearence from the floor jack plate. Many use the floor jacks with the cupped jack plate and it gets too close to the under body if you use the single stacked jacking pucks.
No digicam, sorry
They are about 1/2 thick, about an inch wide and run the length of the frame rail
I angled/beveled the front edge a little so they would slide rather than get caught up on stuff.
I used about 10-12 self tapping screws countersunk thru the strips into the frame
I just used scrap alum.
Any metal would work.
Not trying to hijack this thread but....why bother jacking up one side at a time? I used to do this also, now I just drive up on a 2"x6" x 24"long piece of wood placed under each tire, and slide my jack under the front cross member, get the car up as high as I need, place jack stands either under the cross member, or along the frame rails where the pucs would go. It seems a lot faster to do this when changing pads, rotors, oil, etc......

What do you do when you have to bring your Vette in for service and they have lift.
I never use jack pucks, since i think there dangerous to use, i just use 4 square pieces of aluminum strips and use jack stands, the pucks dont really give u surface area for the jack stand rod to sit against. i dont trust the pucks since i had my car almost fall on me because of those..

I jack up just one side and do both tires on that side, then do the other. I really havent run into any situations where I had to get under the car that I needed that much clearance. jacking from one side and changing the oil is no big deal....
for Elite Engineering! They make nice stuff and no one has better customer service than them! Their pucks looks so good they should sell them in sets of five (5) so you can use one on your desk as a paper weight!
