Got my new I forged wheels mounted a couple of weeks ago. We had to use spacers in the rear to clear the calipers (I am running Baer +2 rotors) the spacers are around 3/16 and we still had to grind on the caliper to make them fit. When the wheels were ordered I told them that i was running big brakes anyway they didn't fit, hence the spacers.
Here is my question, around 70-75 mph I am getting a rythmic vibration. At first I thought it was from the front wheels as the rings for the hubs didn't seem to fit right, so I took them off and reinstalled the wheel. The front seems to be fine now but I still have the vibration in the rear now. Maybe the spacers are causing the problem? Could this be a tire balancing issue? I feel no vibrations at all until around 70-75mph and as said before it is a rythmic vibration. The spacers we used were from a local parts house and seem to be generic. Maybe new spacers? I'de like a little more info before I go grinding on the calipers again.

Not balance, but alignement. Have you had you car aligned with the new wheels and spacers?? Very important. The addition of the spacer will change the alignement ever so slightly that the 70 -80 mph vibration will occur.
Rings or spacers are tight between the hub and the wheel with the wheel is torqued down. so that is not the problem.

I never thought about that. I'll get the alignment checked this week. Thanks for the input.
Did you remove the factory star clips on the lug bolts before you mounted your wheels? I found out the hard way. If those are not remove you'll swear that its a balancing problem.

I know the vibration your talking about. I noticed the same thing when I changed out my rotors. That was the only thing I did, everything else was the same. I bought mine from rotorpro, drilled and slotted. I'm not sure there's anything you can do to fix it.

No vibration until the new wheels were installed. I was previously running HRE's.

Sorry to hijack your thread a bit ...
Do you have a picture of this start clip?
Thanks,

I had a problem like this with my old miata . The problem occurred after having the tires rotated . A way too happy tire guy impacted the wheels on and warped a rotor . Charlie
IMHO a shake or vibration that you can feel at 70 MPH and not at say 50 MPH is going to be something that is spinning that is also off center/out of balance. Do you still have the old rims/tires? If so reinstall the rears and see what happens. Can’t hurt to get it aligned but don’t see how too much or not enough caster, camber or toe is going to make something shake. Or if somebody could explain how too much or not enough caster, camber or toe could make the car shake at 70 MPH that would be cool too!
