Default Front O2 Sensor location

Throwing P0133 code, so I'm going to replace both front O2 Sensors. Does anyone have a picture of what these look like and where they are located? Can I get to them from the top of the engine bay or do I need to jack up the car to get to them from underneath?

Anything I should know before I attempt this replacement (e.g. torque requirements, techniques, helpful hints, etc.)?

You will find them on the exhaust manifold. Needs to be done underneat the car. Can be a pita to remove and require some heat. Torque, well I have it in the manual but I would just make them tight enough.

You can see the part with the wire, this is the passenger side 02 sensor. Just follow the wire.

Take great care not to twist up the wire. They are fragile.

Get the GM O2 sensors, Fred Beans is a good place to get them. You need O2 safe anti-seize on the threads, the GM sensors are pre-lubricated. The ones on the front of the Vette, in stock manifolds, are relatively easy to change and an open end wrench will probably work. Make sure you don't cross-thread, very easy to do since you will be working at a weird angle. The electrical connections have a blue plastic pin that must be removed prior to unplugging them, which will require lifting the release tab. The blue pin is a second lock to ensure they don't unplug. If your car is older, the connections will be brittle, so go slowly to avoid breaking the tabs.

Good luck

Thanks for all the wonderful advise. I'll let everyone know how this project goes (along with some pics).

is there a way you can elaborate on getting to the sensor. Like pictures or anything. I have a 2002 vette and my passenger front sensor is bad apparently. So i gotta replace it. Do i have to remove the exhaust or anything or just stick my hand in there.

FYI...If you have an O2 sensor DTC..it doesn't mean it's always an O2 sensor !!..why do you think it's "apparently bad" ????

How did your cats "go out" ??...what DTC was thrown ??...were they clogged or did they no longer have the ability to store oxygen ??...changing the cats is only the "effect" of an issue you had with the engine...they just don't go bad....you have to figure out what the initial "cause" was or the new cats will soon fail. Did the P0153 occur soon after the Corsa exhaust installation ??...the majority of the time it is a bad sensor but it can also be caused by an exhaust leak somewhere upstream of that R/H upstream sensor...a failing O2 sensor heater circuit may also cause this issue...if you do replace the upstream sensor use ONLY OEM !!

You need this tool.

AZ has it as a loaner. Probably also a cheater pipe to get some leverage.
There is just barely almost not enough room to get the tool on and turn the sensor just a fraction.
Once you break them loose they will unscrew easily.
