Default Am I playing with Fire???

I have been getting the dreaded 'service column lock' in the DIC, but it has never locked up on me or cut fuel. So, I have driven the car in the meantime.....Am I playing with fire?? I think I traced my issue to a dying battery, but I charged it up and I am still getting the message. But there are no codes being shown when I call them up in the DIC. Is there somewhere else to reset codes?

I am still trying to decide if I should take it to the dealer for the recall work, or just buy the CLB and do it myself. Hmmmm....

Whether it fails tomorrow or a year from now, yes, you are flirting with disaster..

Just take care of it with a CLB, before you get stranded.

From what I've read, the CLB is the only sure cure!

You must be a gambling man. Even without that message you are always at risk. Consider yourself lucky you haven't been locked up at an extremely inconvenient moment.

It's not worth getting stranded. Have the dealer fix it.

You will go to start your car in the near future and be stuck. Buy a bypass now.

I had the message for about 2 months before it bit me. It started with the column lock, then it was the pull key wait 10 seconds. Soon after that it was time for me to install the bypass. The bypass is cake to install, so just do it.

So, do I go to the dealer and get the recall service done? Or do I skip it and get the CLB???

Skip the dealer, he has nothing of substance for you, do the CLB and rest easy.

If you get the column lock before you have the bypass installed simple turn the key to the on position (do not start), grip the wheel in the 3 and 9 o'clock position and violently turn the wheel to the right and left. It will soon unlock and not bother you for a while.

Then you know you time is running out--get the CLB asap!

Mine bit me in the but last week, put on the CLB and IO am good to go now. Very easy to install too. I did not follow the directions and it locked my colum, followed the directions and worked like a charm. You need to do this before you get hung out someplace, trying to unlock it. Good luck!
