Well a few wheels ago my pass. side half shaft started to leak. A buddy and I replaced it with a new one. All was good about 4days then it started to leak again. We put it on a lift and the seal has moved out. We push it back in and a day or 2 later it moved out again.
Here are a few pictures of it.
Here it is pushed out a little.
After I push it back in..
Is there a problem with the new seal, or a problem is the side cover of the diff? I'm kind of thinking about ordering a new side piece to see if there is a problem with that, but want to know what other people think before I spend $130 on that. Durring this time, the rear of my car is covered in diff oil.
seals donot push out like that unless ya put in the wrong seal. you should have to hammer a seal in . you may want to borrow an installer.i ve sealed all types of things and ya get a feel of things . how did the old on come out ? did ya take it with ya to the dealer and match it up any numbers on old seal [the one ya threw out] did ya check the fit on axle and put oil on shaft

On the install, we pushed it in and used the force of the cv shaft to press it into place. From everything I have read, it is the updated one with the new part number.
Just checked after driving 2-3 miles and the seal is moved out again and there is another puddle on the garage floor. I dont think I should even be driving the car right now. The guys at digital corvettes are telling me to pull the diff and take it apart and look for cracks.
Considering your description of how you installed the seal, my first assumption would be it was not seated properly to begin with. I'd buy another seal, get specific instructions from someone like DTE before you give up and assume defective parts.
for the safety of the public you should never work on an auto
Unless it's something easy, I normally dont do it myself. I had a buddy that does private installs do it for me as I watched. Looks like I need to order a new seal. I normally make cars look perfect not run perfect.
