How about descreened (non-Z06's) and/or aftermarket MAFs? On a stock engine, of course...

* Mobil 1 synthetic is not the best for your C5
* After market plug wires add Hp
* There is no reason to clean your electrical grounds periodically
* You can program out your TPM system on a 97-99
* Replacing the batteries on your Tire Press Sensors is always successful
* The owners manual and the service manual is only for the other guy to read
* Search functions on this forum are worthless

Who said this was a "myth", or that it was busted? Precisely how do you think the TCS system on these cars operate? (Hint; measures the rpm difference between the front and rear wheels..)

You can do a certain sequence of button pushing, involving the radio and TC buttons, to unleash untold HP.

And I thought the hood seal was good for 25 rwhp not just 15.

Busted. AH has nothing to do with differnt size tires wheels or different RMPs of front and rear. Ran 305/35/x18s front and rear

I have done this with noo problems for street driving what so ever. On the track on a high speed sweeper AH kicked in, so I hit the off button and vroom

So running IDETICAL WHEELS AND TIRES front and rear. will not affect AM/TC. However, for best handleing yes you want a less width tire for the front.

Default Myth Busters

1) As a Corvette owner, the General (and its dealership network) will take care of you as a valued customer

2) The electrical/electronics system in a C5 is well engineered and reliable

If you have had your C5 hasn't had a column lockup by now that you are OK.
If you have had the recall done on your C5 for the column lock that you don't need the CLB

Well, I busted it. Running 275 series tires on all 4 corners, never had any problem. The rpm difference isn't enough for the computer to get spooled up about it.

Now, racing my ZR-1 repos, 275/40R-17 and 315/35R-17 rear (rears are smaller diameter than fronts), I do have to run in Competition Mode or all modes off (my normal autox mode). AH still works in this case, but traction control will kick in at some point in my drive to the autox.

Interestingly, it takes anywhere from 1-15 miles before it finally kicks in. Never understood why.

Have a good one,
Mike

With my Drag Setup, i have 275's all around on 17" wheels, once i hit 50-70mph, my TC kick's in. Did it when my rear tires were new and had more tread then the front.

mine is a 2000 - not sure if that makes any difference, i believe they modified the AH/TC system a couple times during the c5 run.

Also - I have run 295's on my stock rear wheels for 3 years - no problems what so ever, on my second set now.

Oh, and to answer the original question:
160 T-stat
I highly doubt I need one in FL. So this is actually not true unless you are specifying a state.

I run the same diameter tires front and rear at the track and when autocrossing. Have never had an ABS/AH/TC problem due to the tire size. However, if you run smaller diameter tires in the rear than you have in the front the TC system will go crazy. Even in nuetral coasting down a hill it will apply the brakes to keep the rear wheels from spinning to fast (have tried it).

I'm sure we can find an equal number of owners that have experienced issues with equally-sized tires front and rear as those that did not, so I stand by my assertion that this issue does not qualify as a "myth". Even if the TCS system doesn't kick-in during "normal" driving, you can bet that the computer will kick-in the TCS sooner than it would with an offset present. And whom here wears down the fronts before the rears? So again it's likely as the rear tires wear you could run into this issue.
