Default PCV.... Should it be here???

Hello Guys,

First off I want to thank everyone for the great and fast responses to my questions (probably dumb ones..!) you have been a massive help..!

I need to know if there should be a PCV pipe on this Engine.... I am still only guessing on C5??

http://keithgott.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=832#832

Cheers Guys...

Leon

Mine is where your clamps are in the photo, is that where it is? Also, there is one hose going down to the left, where is that going?

I have three valve cover connections. One forward passenger side that goes to the throttle body. One on the back of each valve cover that is part of a "Y" hose and then the PCV valve into the intake.

I am just going to try and get more photos of it to post for you..!

Do you know if the Throttle Body on this one is a standard item as it has 4 Breather/Water Pipes off it...?? Just so I know which pipe goes where..?!??

I could do with some diagrams of the plumbing if you know of anyone who has any..!!!

Cheers

Leon

P.S. will be back with some more photos in a bit..!

The PCV routing on early LS-1 engines had a connection on the back of each valve cover and then ran forward to the PCV valve which then went to a nipple in the right side of the intake behind the throttle body, there was also a connection at the front right valve cover just behind the oil fill tube, this connected to the throttle body.

Late LS-1 engines (2004) and LS-6 engines had the PCV hose coming off of the right side of the valley cover below the intake manifold and it looped up to the same nipple on the side of the intake.

After looking at the picture...

The hose coming off the throttle body looks like it is connected to the valve cover correctly.

and it looks like you have an LS-1 valley cover as I don't see anything sticking up there.

so you should have 2 open connections on the back of each valve cover and these 2 should be connected to the intake manifold right below that throttle cable bracket.

The third picture entitled "rear inlet", I assume this is the back of the intake and the sensor we see is the Map sensor and that large hose should be connected to the power brake booster.

The 2 pictures titled "main1 and main2" show a hose, it appears this hose is coming off of the throttle body and then a plastic "T" is installed and then the hose continues back to what I'm assuming is the valve cover just behind the oil fill tube, is this correct?

The picture titled TB right side is actually the left side of the engine, correct? that nipple on the corvette is where the EVAP purge solenoid hooks in.

The picture titled TB left side is actually the right side of the engine, I don't know what the sensor is thats plugged in right behind the throttle body but on every LS-XX engine I've seen the normal PCV hose hooks right there, of course this engine is a little different because there is another sensor on the water pump where the upper radiator hose hooks in that looks unfamiliar to me???

The last picture is titled rear RH valve cover, again is this your right or the engine right? either way where does that hose lead?

This is how my 02 is set up. One of the shots that you have appears to be the driver's side, which is the EVAP connection.

You guys are fantastic

Vettenuts the Drawing was a great help..!! Thanks..!

FFR-ZO6 this has been the most help ever..!!! Yes you are right in thinking that the hose from the top right of the TB joins to the front right valve cover behind the oil filler with a T piece in it which I can only assume was conected to the pipe coming from the Left Rear valve cover you asked about , as this is just shoved down the back of the block..!!

I think this engine is quite a strange set up as there is the hose on the front of the right valve cover but not one on the back of the cover and there is the sensor in where the PCV should go into the intake and by the sounds of it the who PCV system has been junked..!!!

What should I do about the EVAP connection on the inlet? Just blank it off??

There are also two more "nipples"? on the bottom of either side of the TB with nothing on them??

I can't find the Thermostat ???? It must have one... right??

I feel like I am getting somewhere now..!!!

Thanks Guys..!!!

I have been on to Arizona Speed about the Delphi MEFI-4 Management system / ECU and they have said that they can set it up to work with their software which will let us program it..!! But that does mean sending the ECU to Arizona..!!

I think we just need a code reader to be honest..!! Any ideas where we can get one???

Does the Throttle Butterfy need setting up to a set closed gap, or does it have an air bleed hole so it can just fully close on idle...??

Thanks

P.S. These are the last couple of bits we need to sort out..!!!

I would blank the EVAP connection or run the hose from the back left valve cover to it and then do away with the "T" fitting.

The 2 nipples on the bottom of the throttle body are for coolant, don't worry about them they will not affect anything if left open.

The thermostat is in the housing on the water pump where the lower radiator hose connects.

So how do you do a correct PVC delete? What lines do you disconnect, and where do you put a filter? thanks
