I am hoping someone knows what this code means. I have a printout of DIC codes, but this one is not there. I got it with these other ones
P1516
C1278
I was able to get info on these from searching, but the 2101 code eludes me. I am thinking possible battery, as the car has been cranking a bit slow, and voltage meter indicates 14.2 or so after sitting a few days. I will inspect the wiring to the TCM. The TP sensor on the TB is new, and the throttle body is clean.
"Control Module Throttle Actuator Position Performance".. Hopefully someone with an 04 manual will chime in..
BTW, 14.2v is excellent! Mine typically sits at around 11.9v before cranking, and I have absolutely no starting issues. I'm wondering if the gauge is reading the battery voltage accurately.
14.2V would be your alternator output after the car is started which is normal, not the battery voltage. BTW 14.2V on a battery is impossible since it's fully charged level is about 12.6V.
Check the battery voltage with a DMM at the battery to determine it's charge. The DIC with the engine off will not give an accurate battery voltage.
P1516 – Predicted verses actual throttle position error
C1278 – TCS inhibit by PCM
The C1278 will probably go away after you fix the P1516 problem. If you look at the flow chart for the 1516 after you check the normal powers and grounds you will be checking the position sensors at the pedal and throttle. PCM kills the TCS because it’s not sure it can control throttle opening/closing correctly. Good luck
I waited and reset the codes and took a drive. Things seemed fine driving slowly thru the neighborhood. Once I took it up to about 3k rpm, reduced engine power came back. Got codes P2101 and 1278. I know what C1278 is, but cant find P2101.
