Default Long Tube Help

Ok so I installed my LG Street series headers a couple weekends ago. On my way home I started pulling codes. They were codes for the passenger side front 02 sensor. So I buy another sensor and throw it on. Now I get new codes. So I bring it into a shop and buy a new sensor. Now I am pulling a code

P0154 HC

Any ideas? I am about ready to throw the origional headers back on. Thanks.

Hold on.. Wish you would have posted before spending all that money on replacing perfectly good O2 sensors..

Here's the scoop; these long-tube headers place the front O2's further down-stream, reducing the exhaust gas temperature (required by O2's to function properly).

The solution; either move the rear O2's to the front, or if you are using all 4 buy 2 new rear O2's, obtain a conversion cable / connector (the fronts and rears use different connectors), and it should solve this issue.

The rear O2's are designed to run further down-stream, and have different heaters in them as well.

I am using the rears in the front. And no one sells a conversion cable for the 04 that I know of. The 04 has a square female plug unlike the pre 04 that had a flat black connector up front. I am running rears in the front but I have to splice the plug in.

Hmmm. O.k., could it be the wire splicing causing the issue? The wire used in O2 sensors is "special", i.e. the sensor recv. its base air reference used to compare the oxygen content in the exhaust stream from the wiring itself.

I can't see the fronts being any better than the rears, so that's why I'm suggesting you may have another issue.

I'd also contact LGM, they have seen and heard pretty much every possible issue related to the installation of these headers.

thanks. Yeah I think I even confused them. I don't think they have run into issues with an 04 yet. Or maybe I suck at explaining the problem to them. They don't seem to have heard of the fact that my front 02 had a female square connector. Mayb I should actually call them tomorrow.

I agree, call LG tomorrow and talk to them. The 04's had some special problems that took a few months to figure out. I have a friend with LG's installed by LG at Carlisle and he has had none of the problems you are describing. Good luck.

Might be worth posting the fix to, as a reminder.

Talk to Bobby at LG - He can sell you the adapter plugs to put rears on the front.

that's correct, you do have the L sensor going to the L plug? often w/ LT's people will cross the front O2's, common mistake due to the way they are routed

front O2's L to L/R to R
rear O2's L to R/R to L

Yup they are routed correctly. I made sure to put them one at a time to make sure that this doesn't become a problem. I was there when the shop put them in as well and they put them in correctly as well
