On my way home from work tonight, I was getting a little heavy with the foot in 1st & 2nd and I started getting 2 messages flashing on my display: "Service Active Hndlng" & "Service Traction Control", and my ABS light came on and stayed on. I always switch of my traction control, so the system was not doing any work in that area. After shutting down and pulling the key, when I restarted the car, all seemed fine.
Does anyone have any info on what this may be and if it could be something simple I could check?
Most of the time it's a loose / poor connection on one of the wheel sensor cables.. Check you DIC, see what it says. (display the codes; hold "Options" down, press "Fuel" 4 times in a row, post the codes in this thread).

Those codes fly pretty fast! I think I got em
28TCS C1242 H
60IPC B0521 H
BO RFA U1064 H & U1000 H
A1-RDCM 2285 H & U1064 H
A0-LCDM U1064 H
A0-RCDM U1064 & U2285
Is there a way to freeze these codes for easy writing?
I think I got em all! I really appreciate the help!!

C1242 is the one you are concerned with, it is responsible for lighting up the service TCS and ABS indicators.
This code is set when a poor ground is detected within the ABS pump circuitry. At this point it looks like you may have an intermittent continuity issue within circuit #1250.
The "H" after the code indicates "history", i.e. this condition is not currently present.
Check out ground points G101 and G108.
Check out Bill C.'s tech tips and threads regarding poor grounds, where they are and how to clean them.
P.S. the IPC code B0521 indicates you are spinning the motor over 7400 RPM's; knock it off!
Clear all the codes currently displayed, check those grounds, drive it and see what else (if anything) pops up. It's good practice to run the check codes routine every once in a while.

Thanks soooo much!!! That 7400 MPR code must be from a previous owner! I am the 3rd! I NEVER go over 58-5900 RPMs, she's my baby and I do no abuse her at all!! I am one of the crazies that does my oil change between 2000 & 2500 miles!

Thanks again Dan!!

No problem.. If you (or anyone else) had actually turned the motor that many RPM's, you'd have a "vented" block where the rod poked a hole in the side. You have a rev limiter to prevent this. This is another "intermittent" issue, this time with the tachometer.
My coupe is an '01 that I purchased in Sep of '04 with 10300 miles. G-- only knows what the 2 previous owners may have done with my baby. I have never checked the codes before and I imagine some are rather old. Is there a special way to clear the codes?

After the codes are automatically cycled through, it will go into the "Manual Diagnostics" mode. Use the "Options" and "Trip" buttons to scroll manually through the DTCs. That way you don't have to try to capture them as it automatically scrolls through them.

Thanks! I had a tough time trying to catch those babys!
As mentioned above you could have a ground problem but you may not have any problem at all. Sometimes this just happens due to an unexpected variation in the signals received at the EBCM. This syndrome never seems to happen while people are braking just when they are on the throttle. It happens often enough that one C5 racer has installed toggle switches on his 99 FRCs so the driver can power the EBCM off and on while running in a race thus resetting the ABS. Usually the failure occurs when the car runs over a rough patch of pavement or something similar.
I have the same issuue with my C5, the ABS lights and TCS lights pop up. Only when I hit bumps or uneven paved roads. How do the wheel/abs sensors look like, I want to take them off and clean them see if the fixes the problem. Thanks!

Got the same two messages yesterday morning ("Service Active Handlng" & "Service ABS") on the DIC, as well as the lights on the gauge cluster that are staying on. I had just installed a new battery prior to this. Never had the messages before installing the battery so could they be related? How/should can I get rid of them or should I take it in for service?

Please read and post your DTC codes. Once you have them written down and posted, CLEAR THEM>
This is the absolute best C5 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) web site!!!
Go to “technical data base” and then to “Corvette ECM Computer Codes”. Then select your year car. Read the instructions and then scroll down to the "READ MORE" window to view the code definitions.\
