Read the "sticky" right above this, titled Important electrical information(Long) by Bill Curllee, this may help you as it did me with the same errors

Bills sticky is awesome.
Have to say though, C1214 was the code I was getting when I was having problems. Turned out to be a bad voltage from the EBCM which the dealer eventually replaced under warranty.

If its current I'm surprised the AH is resetting.
Same thing happened to me. Dealer replaced the $900 EBCM under warranty.
I am having the Service traction control, active handling and ABS error.
These are the codes I am getting
C 1214 HC
C 1288 H
U 1160 H
I am new to this, but does any one know what these mean and what the problem might be?
Thanks
Charles
C1214 = EBCM Solenoind Valve Relay or Coil Circuit Open. It means that a relay inside the EBCM is instructed to to fire but the voltage being measured shows that the relay is not closed.
C1288 = Steering Sensor Circuit Malfunction. The EBCM is reading a voltage signal outside the correct range of 0.2-4.8 V.
U1160 is a universal loss of communication between system reporting it and other modules.
The common element here is the connector to the EBCM and the ground G108 located on the frame rail below the battery compartment. Since you've indicated that it started when you have the car washed, the first thing to check is the EBCM connector for any possible broken wires or even just water intrusion and poor contact. I would remove the connector, clean the contacts and apply some dielectric grease and see if that fixes it before having the dealer consider replacing the EBCM.
EBTCM code 1214 is a code indicating that there is an internal problem with the system relay inside the EBTCM. It is not user serviceable. Here is a picture of the relays inside the EBTCM (2001+ MODULE)
The metal cans on top are the solinoid coils that are used to operate the poppet valves inside the BPMV.
You can do the basic stuff:
Clean the chassis ground G101
Here is the ground eyelet that is the ground for the EBTCM. Its under the connector on G-101:
On 2000 and older C5's there is also a ground stud on the BPMV motor:
This is a 97-98 rear mounted EBTCM. The ground stud on the motor is about the same as the one on 99-2000.
You may end up having to replace the EBTCM. There is a service from a vender on Ebay that rebuilds them for $450 or less. Life time warranty.

I had to have my EBCM re-built 4 months ago. Put it back in the car and no more codes. The company I used is on ebay, but I contacted them directly at http://autoecu.com/ Their phone # is at the bottom of the web page.
Hope you solve the issue without a rebuild, but if you need it done they were reasonable and quick.
Thanks a million guys. I didnt know that this was such a big problem. Now I see numerous post on here with people that have the same probelm. I have some great information now. I am going to try and clean the grounds tomorrow. If that doesnt work looks like my best bet is to get it rebuilt.
Checked the grounds and connections. Everything looked good but cleaned them any way. Didnt solve problem. Looks like I will get a rebuilt one and hope it goes away.
