The very best bang for the buck is the RED GM performance wires! Very good quality! Thats what I would get if I had to get wires again. I have an 06 and it has the red wires! Dont know if they cross over to C5 or not. I think they are like $40 ish dollars.

I don't know why that guy always ranks on MSD. I called Thunder Racing and asked them what they recommend, and not only did they say MSD, but they were quite a bit cheaper than other brands they sell. Look and work great for me.
Every NHRA Pro Stock car is equipped with complete MSD ignition systems. These teams have very deep financial resources, and you can rest assured if there was something better out there, they would be using them.

They are running the same wire as a Corvette? The MSD wires are horrible because you can't feel them snap on and the rubber boot on mine cracked and was causing a miss firing and they were new. The stockers when 55,000 miles no problem. MSD is junk. You want pictures I'll post as I have before.

Well I guess it's possible for someone to have a bad experience with a companies product, but on the other hand I have used various MSD products for 20+ years with zero defects. The list would include wire sets, crank triggers, timing computers and retards, 3 steps, rpm limiters, 7AL boxes, etc. Have had their stuff on two boats, two race cars, and three street cars, would never think of looking to another company for ignition products.

new wire that had a kool sox which the stocks ones never had
http://shielsmasonry.com/MSDEND.jpg end clips on like crap and doesn't stay on. Burned my hands at track trying to keep putting them on. Car was misfiring and ruined 5 track days. I even had my mechanic put them on and it was the same crap. Others on the forum have had similar problems.
The GM red wires are very good and priced reasonably. I've used MSD's, Taylor, Accel and others over the years and they've been good also but if you've had one bad experience with any make then you might not have a good opinion to offer. Stick with the GM set and just make sure you snap the plug boot on good. Apply a bit of dielectric grease inside the boots before installing and listen for the click when installing them.

I first learned about dielectric grease when I bought my first set of wires way back when. It is an important step in installing the boots on the plugs, acts as an insulator and a lubricant, also makes removal easier after many miles.
JOHN that first picture you posted looked like a rat had been chewing on the boot. It's hard for me to imagine how that type of damage could result from normal use and installation

Jacob's wires puts them all to shame .They are the best wire on the market and still less than a hundred bucks They go on both sides with a snap.
They are owned by Mr Gasket.
Who also makes all the Accel stuff.Along with Hurst products.
Gm wires are ok but don't pass near the current though the wire.

This is nothing new, your points are valid.Used read about people with poor Msd wires on the Old Ls-1 .com. I 've put on the Msd's before and they are not close to the stock or Jacob's.
I also had a horrible experience with MSD wires on my Vette, I installed a set after I changed a cam then on start up the engine ran rough and was throwing a P0300 code we turned the lights down in the garage and it looked like a light show under the hood, every single plug wire was arcing to the headers.
