Speedometer adjusting for tire size???
I know my corvette's are sweet, but this doesn't seem quite right. They guy I bought my vette from said that the car will adjust the speedometer to correct for different size tires in the back. Is this true? Sound crazy to me, but cool if it works.
He said that when he put track tires on, the speedo was off by quite a bit, but after driving around for an hour or so, the speedo was right because the vette's can correct this based on wheel speed or yada yada.
Has anyone else hear this, or is it
?

Sounds like it might be time to pull out the ol' meter and let you know that it's time to...
IIRC, changing gears won't affect the speedo, but changing tire height/circumference will.
HTH
PS - if the meter ain't movin', then my animated gif ain't too animated.

If M6 vettes can automatically compensate for gear changes then I see no reason why they couldn't do tire size as well...

They don't "automatically" adjust for anything.. The sensor is placed in the diff. in such a way that gear changes do not affect the speedo reading, but (of course) tire size
always will.

If I remember correctly, there are parameters stored in a table for tire diameter new and minimum, so I don't think it will automatically correct.

Isn't the difference at low speeds, below 80 mph that is it really worth it??
at higher speeds on the road race track yes, but then again who has time to look at a speedo when your entering a brake zone

although the rear ratio fields in that program are ignored by the C5 PCM. It's there for F-Body LS1's.
