I was very careful cleaning gasket material, etc. when I did this the first time. Short of a boroscope which I don't have access too, how can I check the oil galley?

I'm not going to toss Molotov Cocktails at your vendor (or any vendor for that matter), but just because a vendor sold you a set of parts, does NOT mean they were the optimum choice. Sure, those stock-length PR's open and close the valves just fine.. That's not your issue. Your issue is you don't appreciate the noisy valve train.. I'm sure you won't find any statement from this (or any other vendor) claiming "installing these parts will result in a significant performance gain while still maintaining stock sound and vibrations levels".

I'll guess the taping really starts to come on around 2,000, becomes progressively louder and is finally overtaken by exhaust noise at around 4,000.. If so, perfectly "normal".

It's up to you if you want to go the extra mile to make this combo as mechanically quite as possible (it will never be the same as stock - no free lunch).

Surf on over to LS1tech; this issue truly qualifies for a emoticon.

Nothing "normal" about the tapping I get at around 3000 RPM ... totally different than the valve train noise I get at idle and that is represented in the video I posted. When I come off 3000 RPM the tapping continues, and then slowly fades back to the 'ticking'. Referring back to one of your earlier posts, the tapping I get at 3000 is "VERY loud, standing out from the rest".

I hear ya on the push rod length ... plan to spend extra time this time around to make sure I have the right length. Thanks for the info.

Have the lifter pre-load readjusted. Just my two cents because I had the same thing happen to me and it was just a roller rocker adjustment.

I'm a bit beyond that now, unfortunately ... the driver head is off, and once I get some time around my son's baseball, and traveling for work I'll install the new lifters, and check pushrod length. Sure hope this works.
