Are B&B Shorty Headers worth the $$ (I can get them used for $350) for the HP they give?? I dont want to go through the trouble with long tubes and welding and removing the cats, etc, if they are worth the money for the shorties ill do them cause I am doing heads and a cam soon.
10 hp maybe? Since you’re doing the heads, now would be a perfect time for long tubes. Not necessarily any welding.
If I can buy longtubes that are a direct bolt on (no welding), that bolt up to the stock cats (or bolt on some high flows) then ill but them but I have yet to find any "bolt on long tubes"
Get the Dynatech Supermaxx headers - you will get the headers and an X pipe, and cats, so you will have everything you need - I'm not sure there are ANY LT's out there that bolt up to the stock cats.

texas-speed has a set for around $750 that bolts up to the stock cat back so I may go with that set up

Yes Sir, they are worth the money. Before taking advice from arm-chair Internet engineers you might want to ask those who have actually installed them.
See my sig for the numbers. The do work, they are easy to install, they won’t fry the starter, they don't require a tune, they don't throw codes, they will pass a visual smog check, they do improve the exhaust tone and volume, they are very high-quality - no history of AIR tubes breaking off, shall I continue??

I agree, the B&B Shorties do perform . You'll get 10 out of them
We had a 99 vette dyno with a set of BBK shorty headers and one of those chrome twin intake air filters that you buy off of Ebay. and it had 303 rwhp. thats about normal for a stock 99 vette.
my 98 dynoed 321 hp 336 TQ with shorties, xpipe, vararam. At 55 mph and most agreed in the post i made and the dyno guy was very adamit that I would be at 340 hp and about 355 TQ. with the vararam. (no need to debate this it has already been put to rest)
Several people in the shop came over and were amazed at the power the car made for the year it was, and were even more amazed that I had pace setter shorties.
Not to mention that the shorties have more torque then the LT and with the cam I went with I believe that this will benefit the torque numbers as oppsoed the the LT. But I was long range planning when I bought them.
I also ran 12.87 at the track at 110, and there was room for improvement too.
Like many have said, the shorties are very easy bolt ons with no issues. I got mine from a great member here at a great price. Dont sell them, ummm short.
Good luck which ever way you choose.

It seems that the shorties put down more torque...my LT put down less torque than the Pace Setters...but more RWHP..
Glad you are getting what you wanted out of them.. to a great guy
