Default 427 Installation Complete!

I picked up my car today with the new 427 installed. I really like it!

A local shop, RMCR, did all of the installation work and I did the baseline/startup tune. I loaded up the tune, turned the key, and it fired right up. It then settled right down to a nice idle with a bit of lope. I still need to get some break in miles on it and finish the drivability tuning. I’ll then rent RMCR’s dyno and do the power tuning.

I think that I’ll spend some time driving the Vette this weekend!

Mark

The coil relocation brackets are from Katech. They will only work with the Katech valve covers.

Looks very good. Please excuse my ignorance. Is this out of a C6 Z06? Is this a create motor? What horse is it? Where did it come from? Are there more? How much was it? Is it stock? I must of got in on the last of this but I'm very interested in this "UPGRADE".

Good questions!

I bought the 427 shortblock from Scoggin Dickey Parts Center (SPDC). It is a LS7 block with an Eagle crank, SCAT H-beam rods, and (I think) JE pistons. The cam is a COMP Cams recommended 230/242 115 on XE-R lobes. The heads are Livernois Motorsports stage 2 CNC ported L92. The compression ratio came out to right at 11:1.

The cost:

short block assembled, shipped $5995
assembled heads shipped $1830
LS2 oil pan, gaskets, etc ~$1000
L76 intake, complete $ 528
Katech Valve covers $1000
MSD Coils $600

It looks like it came to about $11k. About $2k of that were things that I added that were optional.

There are more where this came from. SDPC will be glad to build you one. As you can see it is not stock. I expect (and hope) that this will put down at least 500rwhp.
