I'll bet that if you were to measure the engine bay temps (in a few different areas) in a Z06 and then in yours, you'd find higher temps in your engine bay. The open areas that allow cold outside air to enter the engine bay are blocked off with a Vararam setup. This has nothing to do with radiator and hence, engine cooling. Rather, it is about the plastic and rubber components that may very well experience shorter life spans from the higher than normal heat being generated by headers and the lack of front-end cooling.
To add to my thread about Advanced Flow Engineering (AFE), I discovered today the company was founded back in 99 by two ex K&N engineers. Hopefully their intake system will do well and I will post info on how it is doing.
I need to install a new Cold Air Intake on my 99. I tried to search through existing threads to see any views and opinions on this mod and found NO MATCHES, which now has me even more concerned. Zip told me that it was a good intake and most importantly there is no hacking at the car to get the intake to fit. It goes right on!!!!!!! This will make it easier for me to deal with!!
