LPE ran my car after the 383 was installed in my '99 coupe MN6.
Top speed was 193mph, car dyno'd 415rwhp and 430rwtq.
I haven't had it that fast yet, but it was still pulling hard when I hit 170mph Friday night.

As for the 200mph... I'll have to give that a try sometime after the Vararam and the 1.8 rockers get put on. Just need to make sure I have some of these with me also .

The same reason the rest of us do... we all own vette's, and we all want to know just how fast they'll go.

Default 200 mph w/A4?

did anyone ever figure out (or guess) if an A4 equipped vette (hp/tq independent) could make 200 mph?

Dont the Ls motors have "drive by wire" throttle? Reason being, it is a governor that does not cut spark or fuel. But i feel as tho corvettes I have maxed out did not run out of power, but that there is a "wall" that limits the speed regardless of the situation. We have a highway where im at that is 5 lanes wide on each side, and goes down a large hill for 2 miles, and back up another hill on the other side of the bridge.... the stock c5's used to get to 172'ish and cut out, but as soon as i got across the bridge, the engine would pull harder again, and keep it close to 172 even tho i was climbing a hill. If someone made me pick a side, i would say they have some sort of governor, but maybe it was my imagination. No one seems to think there is one on them... and im sure tuners would know.

I have 491 rwhp on my 98 vert with 499 tq (6 speed). I have been in the 170's several times and its not pulling very hard at all after that. Im sure it has everything to do with the drag on the convertible top. There is soooo much pressure from the air forcing that flimsy top down into the cabin it actually opens about a 2"gab between the rear deck lid and the canvas from the top. I have a couple friends that quickly pull away from me when we hit these speeds. One has an 08 Z06 and the other a procharged 06 targa. His Z tops out around 200 and the procharged (stock gearing) 6 speed car has seen 204. I think he said his dynoed at 540 or 560 rwhp. Im kind of ashamed to say these are real world experienced #'s.

Since we're bringing this back, I wanted to say that I once (private road in NorCal) took my stock 2002 a4 coupe to 160mph with plenty to go, till I chickened out. I know stock the top speed is about 176mph so, now that my car makes ~450rwhp with 3.42gears I wonder how close I will get to the 200mph. I mean, 350fwhp= 176mph, so cant 530fwhp= near 200mph? Any imput would help. Car is lowered and wheels are 25.5in tall, stock trim, 3.42gears, 3600 stall.

You will need alot of road and about 600fwhp horsepower to overcome the aerodymic drag that 200 mph imposes on your C5....also the correct gearing.

Well... a 75 shot will cure the hp problem but, are my 3.42 too much gear? The gear/top speed calculator had my drivetrain max speed of 225mph.

The internal gearing of the MN6 may make 200mph very difficult. A .74 fifth gear in MN6 compared to a .84 fifth gear in MN12 (C5Z tranny). A 3:73 diff gear may help but I would just enjoy your car and not worry about 200mph. I've been past 180mph before and let off because it feels like the windows are going to get sucked out. The C6 is designed to keep this from happening

that happen to my buddy in his 98 coupe. he about **** his pants.
I have since went to a 4.10 gear, which stops at 180mph in 5th gear. so Im not sure 6th will pull or not, even with the power I have

6th gear in the MN6 is a .50 internal ratio for gas mileage. I believe even with a 4:10 it will be hard to accelerate in 6th especially when you factor in the aero drag at speeds approaching 200 mph

Ever hear of a ZR1?
It takes a lot of HP to get more MPH.
Good luck, and don't try a top speed run on a public road.
