I have 2 brand new axle seals, part# 88996703 and one side cover O Ring seal part# 89047953 that I thought I needed but didn't. They are still in the unopened packages. If anyone is interested, pm me.
Thanks,
jeff

I just had mine really leak bad following a night at the drag strip. There was oil everywhere including coating my rear bumper. This is a sudden failure following no leak whatsoever.

Upon inspection, the right side output shaft seal had popped out from the differential about 1/4 inch. I am planning to replace it because it took very little force with a screwdriver to push it back into place.

Anyone else had this one??

Just replaced mine & followed Cajundude's instructions - easy! Thanks for posting that another great post on CF- took about 2 hours half of that was trying to clean the cradle from the fine oil film that has been spraying back there.

Default Rear end leaks

I also have a 2000 coupe, I purchased new. 1st of this year I too had fluid leaking from the rear. Replaced ALL seals ( some have been up graded from original ) and now no sign of any leaks since it was repaired. Hope the problem is over !!!

Do you still have the seals? If so how much are you selling them for?

Once you remove this cover, it's the O-ring that seals it to the diff housing.

I developed a slight driver side leak last fall. Before going with the most radical repair, clean the diff from top to bottom, run the car, and check the fluid within half an hour of shutting down (while fluid is still hot). I had checked my level on a cold diff and it let out about half cup of fluid. Then a mechanic told me to check it while it's hot and when I did, it let out another half cup. I haven't had a leak since I did this. I've checked it cold, and the fluid is just below the fill hole.

[QUOTE=MattZ28;1564500742]Once you remove this cover, it's the O-ring that seals it to the diff housing.

That looks like the passenger side, on the driver's side I though the TSB included the addition of a sealant on the cover itself in addition to the o-ring.

HI, wonder if this might help, I too had a small leak coming from the diff. My vette is a 2001. After a very hot day (for the UK) I noticed literally one drip on the garage floor, this was after a 50 mile drive. The following day I got under the car and checked where it was coming from. Very difficult to actually pin point where it was coming from. I cracked open the fill plug to check the level and heard what I believed was positive pressure from the plug. After checking the level which was fine I replaced the plug and had no futher leaks that summer. That was two years ago. Last year, again after a hot day, I again had evidence of a drip of oil on the garage floor. This time I reached up to the vent on the top of the diff and just tried to manipulate it a couple of times, again I heard what I believed was a positive pressure release. Checked the oil level again which was still ok. For the rest of the year no further leaks. I am convinced that it was a build up of pressure not being released by the vent plug. I will check the level again this summer. Incidentally my vette has only 17,400 miles to date. Hope this may help you out.
