I got caught in a flash flood storm a few years back here in sunny Florida. Water to Floorboards before I could find a spot to pull over. Installed Dual Intake with K&Ns and cut a couple of holes by the fog lights. I will live with the loss of a few ponies to avoid hydrolock! , Has this topic been covered enough or is that horse going to continue to be beaten?

If you install a cooler air intak that involves cutting a rectangular hole in the "floor" beneath the pickup to feed outside air to the engine, be VERY careful about driving through standing water EVER again if it is more than 6 inches deep or so. The GM 5.7 liter Corvette engine makes a MOST effective and efficient Shop Vac and will suck up large quantities of water in a VERY short time.

Actually, the cutout area that is used by K&N, myself (CAI mod) and a few others, like Callaway, is at the same height or higher than the fog light area which, as you know, is open in Z06s. I've driven in hard downpours and small puddles and the worse thing that happened was that the airfilter was damp.
Several members on the forum have had this happen and allege they did indeed have insurance that covered the repair.

Thousands of Honkers have been installed on C5's and C6's and Callaway has never received a single complaint of water ingestion or hydrolock on a Honker-equipped Corvette.
I know it's been discussed over and over but I feel like I have to respond for Callaway when someone writes that "Several members on the forum have had this happen." I would think if anyone thought their Honker caused a Hydrolock, I would be the first to hear about it. I haven't gotten any such feedback since the C5 Honker system was introduced, in 2003.
