Had My '02 coupe at the Dealer for what I think is a Cat rattle but the advisor says he has never heard of the cats on a Corvette making a rattle noise. He thinks it is probably a heat shield or exhaust leak. Of course he said he has never heard of "Corsa". I told him I have a Corsa cat back. Does anyone know of a service bulletin that deals with the cats on a C5?
Never heard of cat issues on a C5. Additionally the cats are integrated into your H pipe so you'll need to replace the whole assembly if the cats are damaged internally.
Are you sure the rattle is from the cats? There are a few springs down there suspending your exhaust that could rattle if broken or misaligned, as well as your shifter linkage and the torque tube/shaft.
Before you get the "shaft" at the dealer, see if you can get under there and inspect yourself. A low profile jack can get under the side of your car and jack the whole side of the car up for easy inspection. I do this often while I'm changing out my 02's (the longtubes foul them quickly).
Jack up the car, grab your trusty rubber mallet and give the cats a whack! If the honeycomb inner structure is deteriorated, you will hear what sounds like ROCKS bouncing around in the CAT . I would also whack the mufflers. If the car is bad, sometimes the crap ends up rattling around in side the mufflers!
If your cats sound good shake the entire muffler system (its mounted on springs) and listen for rattles.
I remember some threads about a rattle or the sound of coins jingling coming from the design of the stock H-pipe. Don't know why it would do that but I think there was a bulltetin on it.

Of course, if you show up in Carlisle the ground will be littered with these. Last year there were some kids carrying them off, likely to be sold for scrap

Yep, there was a MOUNTAIN of them behind the exhaust changing area for the three exhaust vendors that were there.

My '02 has that jingle noise and I have never done anything about it. I would rather tolerate the noise than have someone at the dealer cutting under my car and reconnecting my exhaust via claps rather than welding. As I understand it, it is very common in the '02's-04's. My car was doing that the day I bought it three years ago with only 4007 miles on it. It hasn't gotten any worse and I now have a little over 25k miles on it.
