1 reasonable performance mod, ideas?
Okay, car runs great and is look'in pretty good now! So any ideas for a performance mod, not sound or cosmectic. $1500 max since i could get a 3.90 rearend installed for a super cheap thrill since I have 3.42 and the mn6. ! item or several within that dollar amount. Is it possible?
Thanks

CARB puts a crimp in what you can do even with no money limit. That said, I think you already identified the one mod that will give the most SOP effect for your budget - 3.90 rear end. Depending on the next $3000 or so you want to spend and still pass the sniff/computer check, the MN12 tranny with 2.66 (is that right?) first gear with the 3.90 will give you a combination that is hard to hook up if you mash the loud pedal too hard and side step the clutch. It will also be a major surprise to onlookers at the occasional stop light gran prix .

If you do gears I say do the 4.10s instead of the 3.90s if you have that option. Headers are a good choice. Theres also Vararam too.

For the money a change in the differential ratio is the way to go.

After labor and tune it's going to be 3x as much as that.
I think the gears are a great choice.

One of my first mod was the 4.10 rear. Now that I have over 440 HP at the wheels, the first 2 gears are useless (everybody tells me to get better tires) so I'm changing to M12/3.42's. That really is 3.90 with MN6.
If I had to do it over again, I would still do 4.10! Best SOTP mod IMHO.

Anybody have any suggestions on a good street cam, i'd be looking for better low end numbers. Try and move the powerband down some.
Gotta keep CA. Smog laws in mind.

A 224/228 on a 114LSA is about the most you can pass with, and it will be really close.
Given your budget, smog concerns, and desire, I'd go with the 4.10s.
