Not necessarily true, im running the MS3 with LS7 lifters, stock rockers and 7.40 hardened pushrods and i have 0 sewing machine noise, if they are properly torqued to GM's sequence i have never had any noise problems.
ive ran 3 cams a 234/242 114, 242/248 110 and now im running a 257/266 .643/.622 110 with these cams ive heard the sewing machine noise with all of these cams but i dont sit there and cry about it. if you want it to sound stock keep it stock!
EG..I am running the Comp 7.425 push rods..Harland 1.7 roller rockers, Cadilla Race Lifter..guess I have to get the P2V measure and learn how to operate it...
Thanks,
Sleeper
I think if yor preload is good, that's about as good as you're going to get. You may have to learn to live with it.
Seems like a lot of posters are running a muffler louder than a Z06, your engine sounds are drowned out. GM went from the stock LS1 cam to the Z06 cam without significant noise increase. Looking for 08 LS3 power level with heads, cam, headers, near 'stealth' as possible. Don't want a streetable race/'funny' car.

That's some big azz cams compared to what I'm running. I got caught up in the cure for the sewing machine noise by replacing the lifters, push rods and rockers and NONE of this quieten the sound by much...BTW..love the power...don't hear squat in the car cruising..only when along side something or inside the garage at home.
Not crying about it, just wondering why folks say they have the cure and it turns out to be

I feel sorry for the folks that blindly follow "definitive" advice "if you swap the lifters your problem will go away" posts; that's a lot of work and dollars for little to zero improvement 99% of the time.

ive never even cared about the sewing machine sound. i just always thought thats the way our engine sounded when it made more power.
