Sounds like column lock or theft deterent system malfunction.

Sounds like a relay failure somewhere or maybe a ground issue. Check the nut that holds the two large red cables next to the underhood relay center under the small plastic cover marked B+). One cable comes from the positive battery cable and the other goes back to the passenger footwell fuse block. If the nut is loose or the cable is loose in the connector, the car might start, but some accessories may not work.

Column lock would not affect those systems and the anti-theft system will keep the car from starting at all.

Could be the battery about to quit on you,. Mine did the same when it failed but never came back from the dead.

Is it the original? if so, maybe time for a new one. Might also be worth checking that you don't have any leaks around the terminals.

Not column lock. Suggest you check battery connections, then grounds, and lastly, the battery itself. It wouldn't be the first red top to go out/bad in a year.

You had a GLITCH in the serial data buss! It's not suppose to happen but it does.

One of the most probable causes of this issue is the wiring harnesses for one or both doors! This is KNOWN issues on the door control harness connectors. One or more of the wires have exposed metal wiring protruding out of the connector. (The insulation pulls out of the connector). The one wire that does it most frequently is the wire for the serial data to and from the door control modules. Shorted serial data buss in one module can and will affect other modules and module functions!

It's an easy check. Just pop the rubber accordion tube off the door frame and the door, pull the door connectors out of the body cavity and inspect the connectors.

I had the same problem once when I was on a business trip 200 miles from home! Dash went crazy, car WOULD NOT START and the windows would not function. (Luckily for me, I knew I had a problem with the door module wiring harnesses and I knew that if I shook the drivers accordion tube, the door control module issue would be temporarily resolved) This time it didn't and I pulled the harness out and PRESTO, there were exposed wires! Fixed the issue and have NOT had ANY more issues.

So,,,thats a place to start and it FREE! The repair is also FREE!

Give that a try!

Not column lock, been there done that, the car still runs like normal when a column lock fault appears, just cant turn the wheel or go over 3 MPH. So that eliminates that problem....Good luck!

" I cant turn the steering wheel " That is a column lock problem! If I were having that issue, I would be at the dealer having the recalls done! Once the column locks, the PCM shuts off the fuel when the PCM detects wheel speed!. Find a dealer in your area that you trust and have then carry out the recall.

Believe it or not,,thats the classic COLUMN LOCK issue symptoms.
