Default I Need Your Knowledge Please ! I HAVE A LEAK EXPLANATION INSIDE

RUN DOWN ON CAR ..

2002 Z06
68K MILES


SO I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND I SHIFT HARD AND I FEEL A SLIP .. IM

THINKIN IT IS THE CLUTCH . SO I TURN MY A/C ON AND I FEEL A HOT

BREEZE . SO I POP THE HOOD LOOK UNDER AND SEE THE AC BELT IS

OFF AND THE ACCESSORY BELT HAS WALKED IN TOWARD THE

MOTOR I SEE THE BELTS HAVE SOME OIL ON THEM AFTER

PUSHING THE CAR BACK I SEE ITS MOTOR OIL .I DONT THINK MY

CRANK IS NOT WALKING BECAUSE I CHECKED IT WITH A PRYBAR TO

SEE MOVEMENT AND THERE WASNT ANY.IT JUST LOOKS LIKE THE

CRANK PULLEY ISNT LINING UP WITH THE TENSIONER.SO I THINK MY

CRANK PULLEY HAS A LEAK OR A BAD PULLEY AND SEAL. CAN YOU

GUYS PLEASE CHIME IN AND HELP ME TROUBLE SHOOT THIS.

What color is the oil? When my compressor died, it spit oil all over my engine bay. I thought it was engine oil until I relized it had absolutely no black in it; it was the a/c oil. Had to replace the compressor + accumulator + oriface tube.

Could also be something to do with the harmonic balancer pulley, but that's for someone else to answer.

Just by symptoms and mileage, I would say the harmonic damper on the crankshaft.

Your damper is MOST LIKELY walking forward and your crank bolt is most likely also loose! Better get this checked out SOON before it damages a LOT of other stuff! The damper is a press fit (at least is suppose to be) on the crank snout so the crow bar test method may NOT provide you the info that you need to see if theres a problem!!

How much clearance is there from the front of the timing chain cover to the backside lip on the pulley!?!

Measure that and post the measurement!
