Default ECU Problems?

When I'm driving around sometimes the windshield wipers start going on their own. Sometimes it says service abs and service traction control, then it turns off. It's really strange, everything just goes on randomly, then turns off.. lol

Default Wiper pain

I have a 98 C5 and I think my wipers are going spastick? I'm driving along and they act like they want to start but stop and go back to the rest position. It's a constent problem now. I'm not getting any messages on the dash. Sure is distracting.

The item that needs attention is probably the BCM located in the passenger footwell. Check for damp carpet there or evidence of water on the BCM. Also check all the grounds for clean and decent connections and while you are at it, check the battery connections. Bad grounds, lower battery voltage and water on the BCM will cause all sorts of issues. Also, pull the codes and see what may have been reported in there.

Your wiper motor is submerged in water. The drains for the well are clogged.

Clean your udders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I would clear the codes, then see what happens when you start it up. Check for codes again. Then drive it, check for codes again after that.

I see Bill posted. Unfortunately I'm at work and whatever pics he put in there, I can't see from here. Listen to Bill! He's pretty sharp.

10-PCM:
P0153 H - SLo Response Bank 2 Sensor 1
P0155 H - Heater Perf Bank 2 Sensor 1
P1134 H - HO2S Transition Time Ratio Bank 1 Sensor 1
P1154 H - HO2S Transition Time Ratio Bank 2 Sensor 1

Is your exhaust system modified? If not you have problems with the Heated O2 sensors (Bank2 Sensor 1 and Bank 1 Sensor 1)

60IPC:
B0521 H - B0521 Tachometer Circ Malfunction
U1016 H, U1176 H, U1160 H - DELETE

I'd delete the B0521 if your tach is working OK - it is a history code
The Uxxxx codes are communication codes and should be deleted. Only usefull if the B0521 comes back

99HVAC:
B0367 H - Right Act Feedback Open

Indicates the HVAC system is having a problem controlling the warm/cool air flow to the right side of the car

A0-LDCM:
B2264 H - Vertical Pos Sensor Circ

Indicates a problem positioning the driver side external mirror. Since this is a History code I would delete it and see if it comes back.
U1064 H - DELETE

28-TCS
C1225 H = LF Excessive Wheel Speed Variation

Since this is a History code I would delete it and see if it returns. This code will disable your Active Handling and ABS systems if the EBCM considers it Current. If it comes back, post it and someone can help you diagnose it.

A1-RDCM:
B2263 H - Horizontal Pos Sensor Circ

Indicates a problem positioning the passenger side external mirror. Since this is a History code I would delete it and see if it comes back. U1064 H - DELETE

B0-RFA:
C2100 H - Left Front TPM Sensor Malfunction
C2110 H C - Right Rear TPM Sensor Malfunction

You say you know you have a problem with the sensors ...

I see your location is Seaside Heights. Are you close to the ocean with salt air? Might want to check all your ground connections. There are a lot of "loss of communication" codes in there.

Thank you very much. And yes I have a full exhaust, cam, intake, and 190' thermostat. I'm gonna try some things tomorrow, but how do I reset the codes? Once I reset them I'll post what came back.

I did what it said and I can't reset the codes. When in manual mode, pressing reset does nothing. Am I doing it wrong?

In the manual mode, first select the first area that has codes, such as the pcm...then push and hold the reset for like 2 seconds. Then go to the next area and do the same.

Ok so I figured everything out and know whats wrong now. The newest code and the reason for my car running horribly is because it's misfiring. I need to change my spark plugs..

If you're gonna do plugs, I'd suggest new wires at the smae time.

Here's my recommendation ....

Plug wires from GM Performance Parts - order kit #12495519

Spark plugs - AC Delco 41-985 (Iridium) they come CORRECTLY pre-gapped at .040

I thought they were independent coils not wires?

Yes, each spark plug has its own coil. The coils are located on top of the valve covers just under the plastic covers on top of the engine that say CORVETTE on them.

The spark plugs are located much lower down and are basically located in between the exhaust headers.

The coils are connected to the spark plugs by individual wires. If you order ONE of the part number above for the plug wires you will get a box of 8 new wires.

The spark plug wires live in a tough environment. They get very hot because they are so close to the exhaust, and they have to deliver very high amperage electrical charges hundreds of times per second. Changing them when you change the plugs is what I would recommend.

Finally, the wires can sometimes be difficult to remove, and it is not uncommon to damage/break one or two wires trying to get them off the plugs.

On install, whether putting the old wires back on, or new ones ... be sure you hear a single "click" as you install them on the plugs, and if you are puttting on new wires, be sure you get a "double" click when installing on the coils. One click to the coils is not enough, push until you hear that second click.

Most of the time the sensor needs to be cleaned and not replaced. Buy the special spray cleaner at any auto parts store.

Ok so now I have cleaned the mass air flow housing and let me say that the car runs a lot better... but it still misfires, so spark plugs next. I'm going with ACDelco Irodium plugs and ACDelco Wires. We'll see what happens when I change them. Thanks for everyones help.
