Default Is it possible to replace 200MPH speedometer with 300 MPH speedometer???

I need help!

I would like to replace my 200 MPH gauge with 300 MPH speedometer.
I was assuming that of course it is possible to swap but I could not find any threads for that.
Does anyone know if it works or if I have to do additional programming?

Contact "PACETHIS", as he knows what it takes to do the job.

I have a 300MPH speedo and Z06 Tach conversion from him.

The 300 speedo is the Canadian spec to read in kph

Not sure of the implication of putting it in a US spec car with a US sw package. Surely by selecting metric it would misread if it still thought the speedo was calibrated in mph?

Maybe someone can explain.

Just wondered why you need one. Planning to break the 200 barrier?

I plan on breaking the barrier one of these days , besides it looks cool.

If it is reprogrammed correctly, it reads fine. I have no problems with mine.

I'm not planning that. Sometimes I like to use metric reading (kmh) and then 200 is just not enough.

Cuz you like to use metric and then drive 125+MPH?

I have seen a few of the conversions, and they are cool. I wonder how much the loss of gradient when using MPH is a bother? In typical driving, do you have to look closely to tell if you're doing 55 or 65?

C'mon it is just cool and fun. I don't even have relatives in Canada so I'm clean

I found a company here in PA who possibly does calibration. Could this be something???

Don't really pay attention to it as I have a HUD and watch my speed up there.

Ah, we of the stripped down FRCs forget that such luxuries exist.

Won't some of the hand held peformance tunners recal the speedometer for rear gear changes? Or is this out of the range of normal calibration?

IIRC, no C5s need to be recal for gear changes, but the A4s need to adjust shift points. Speedo uses wheel speed like the TC system.

? Where's the cool or fun part? Seems like putting your money is other places would actually add more fun when you put your foot in it-who looks at the speedo besides you?

Actually, I'm in the process of converting my 2001 coupe to a FRC, except it will have all of the luxuries.

You'll need the Canadian cluster, along with an odometer program to the canadian cluster. I may be able to help you out with the latter for a minimal fee, or I can point you in the right direction.

Other than that, they're a direct swap. I don't recommend it without a HUD projector, as it's really pretty difficult to read accurately at normal speeds. The left 2 gauges are Canadian specific and can be replaced from the back by way of 2 phillips screws each.

I will note that I have seen some canadian clusters which always default to kmph on EVERY startup, though that's not the design of the system. It should start in kmph at first, but if you change your preference, it should maintain it unless your car loses power.

best of luck!
Josh
