Our european 300 km/h speedometer is ... 8% WRONG!
When I plug my computer to the odb2, the pcm is ready the correct speed (same as GPS, 1% wrong) but the Speedo is 8% wrong!!!
All european corvette have the same problem (french, italian, german), it's maybe the european laws
First Question :
Does the canadia speedo act like this???
Hmm...
I've never heard of this problem but then again, I have a 200mph speedometer. You can try asking in the Canadian regional forum but I'm sure you'd see TONS of complains if that were true.
By the way, what kind of GPS are you using to compare? A hand held device? or something like a Tom Tom?
Out here, we have some stretches of road with markers on the side which go from 0 to 10km in 1km intervals. It allows you to compare your odometer with the actual mileage... which in turn relates to your speedometer being accurate. If you have something like that, you should give it a try since it'd be a better test than a GPS which is subject to lag.

Well, the Canadian 0-300 speedo in my car reads a little high, but not 8%. I just went on a trip with a gps and it was maybe reading about 3mph fast. It was a pretty constant high reading as in 63mph was 60mph, 83mph was 80mph. The cruise display did show the speed almost exactly the same as the gps. When I set the cruise to read 80mph the gps showed 80mph. The error when in km is about the same, maybe 3km/h higher than what the cruise control and gps display.
The trip was through the states so I used miles most of the time.

Thar error could be caused by tire sizes ? Are you running stock tire heights ?
If not you need to update the PCM with the correct wheel diameter.

Not the problem. When I set the cruise it displayed the exact same set-point speed in the DIC as the gps showed. The car knows what speed it is doing, it's just not showing it correctly on the speedo.
