Well ive ruled out the pacesetter headers as shorty headers do absolutely nothing... so that leaves LTs by Texas speed performance and the LTs by SSAUTOCHROME.
I just dont see the point in the extra 300+ dollars for "name brand" headers. (except for ARH's and LG's)
anyways.. I have a dillemma.. living in the tidewater virginia area, Part of our state inspection is a visual inspection for cats. mind you... most shops look at the vette and hardly do a thorough look over because they are afraid to put it on the lift... but anywho... I was thinking the following setups
Im kinda nervous about running catless as the car will smell more as well as the whole state inspection thing.. ive heard mixed reviews about SSAUTOCHROME's build quality and fitment, but on the other side, im not huge on the fact that the TSP are mild steel and subject to rust if the coating is scraped off... anyone have some youtube vids of these exhausts in action.. right now i just have Vararam and corsa indys... im looking for ~400 so i might need a mild cam + tune so im working on a restricted budget, i can always save more for the cam pkg, but i wanna get away with the best bang for buck with the exhaust..
i paid 400 total for my ssa long tube headers and xpipe shipped. go through the forum member tstar on how to purchase them.

Id say pay for a tune if you dont have one you will get 15-20 hp
IF you want the sound go for headers plus tune for an additional 10-15hp on top of the tune.
Ss autochrome will cost you more than what you think you will pay for the added pipe needed + pita install your shop may charge you later after they increase their pipe price to make up for the pita
I got my ssac headers off ebay for 300 bucks installed myself in about 6 hours. the only problem I had was bending the ac line. then drove to the local exhaust shop charged me 70 bucks to hook it up to my stock h pipe and weld up my air fitting. I have had them for a year and a half and not one problem with them.
I don't think it will be too much longer for the SSAC headers. Contact Rick (EFI Alchemy). My car was used for the mock up of the new header design and will probably be the first C5 with the new header. The mock up was done close to a month ago and as I understand they are in the process of manufacturing them. I'm sure Rick can give you more info.
