We did the re-make on the SSAC headers. We sent them the set we modified about 27 days ago. We were told that we should see a finished set back to us to test fit and make sure everything went well with thier new jigs at about the 30 day mark, so i am anticipating seeing the first finished set back in our hands this week.

We will be installing these on a Forum members 00 coupe, with dynos before and after install and tuning to have defenitive comparison data to see what power these things make.

Another bit of good news, while the price will go up a tad, you will now be getting a complete kit from engine to the catback, no more welding up pipes or having to buy clamps and converters. There will be 2 sets avaliable, 1 race off-road set with no emmision's and 1 set that will include high flow cats with AIR system bungs installed.

We are excited to see how they come out, and if all goes well they should be avaliable again very soon

That's awsome. Keep us updated on the progress.

Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and bump this one. I just got 200 cash for my wagons, so I now have 350 saved up just for the headers. If I sell my leftover fish tank tomorrow I'll 500 sweeeet.

Question for you SSAC guys, why would you want to buy a header that is on its third redesign?

Where there's smoke there's fire?

Becouse this time it is re-designed by proffesionals who are solely dedicated to the LSx platform, and rigoursly tested prior to its re-release, which, in the past never happened

I love my TSP long tubes, Bassani X-pipe, and Corsa Pace and no furballs. Sounds killer and the fit was exceptional.

Which is exactly why I'm willing to buy them this time around. Besides, third times a charm.

LOL, that's an awesome tag line. I am not convinced after seeing multiple re-designs and cheap people along the way saying they are great except X, Y and Z. Hearing from the import crowd (who SSautochrome has been making parts for the longest) about cracked manifolds and various other problems, makes me doubt seriously these are any different.

Also, what perceived benefit do you get over a questionable header when there are comparably priced headers out there that you know are quality?

But hey, you spent this much on a car, why not cheap skate through the rest?

Because people are tired of being ripped off by the other companies?

What part about this equation escapes people?

Other inexpensive headers perform and they FIT, yet only cost a little more.

SSAutochrome have difficulties fitting, are on their THIRD redesign and are a little bit cheaper.

I don't call that other companies ripping people off, I call that getting what you pay for. I do agree the premium headers are ridiculously expensive and wouldn't pay for them. But these "value" headers are a good deal and you won't be pissed off with cracking welds, rattles and vibrations like you get with SSautochrome.

I personally would only put Kooks, LG Pro, or American Racing Headers on my car, and Eurospec has on more than one occasion wanted to slap me for it.

But that is because I personally don't care about $$$/hp ratio and am willing to spend a premium price for premium quality, irregardless of diminishing returns. There are many who want to maximize hp/$$$ ratio at all times, and for them ss autochrome headers make perfect sense.

If Eurospec says the redesign will solve any issues, then I would take his word for it.

Furthermore, pointing out redesigns as an argument against a company or product is frankly stupid. The most respected corvette tuners and parts makers on this board have gone through redesigns. Virtually every top-notch product has. ECS and A&A Blower kits, turbo kits, Kooks headers, LG headers, the Vararam, etc. GM does it to with every part, just before they come to market. So you don't see it. The aftermarket firms don't have that luxury, except for a few large firms like Edlebrock. Try to use only GM performance parts or Edlebrock parts on a c5 and see how much your performance improves.

Heck, we wont even go into camshaft profiles and how they have changed.

I agree completely. Redesign is a good thing and I don't think it reflects negatively on the manufacturer. I'm very interested in the next version of the SSA headers.

I am also very interested in seeing the specs and pictures of the third generation.

tiki240, I would hold off to see what these new headers look like before pulling the trigger. Trust me you won't be the only one at Waterside without headers.

P.S. Get Cats the extra 4 HP you will get without them isn't worth what going Catsless does to the air.
