Also, what perceived benefit do you get over a questionable header when there are comparably priced headers out there that you know are quality?

But hey, you spent this much on a car, why not cheap skate through the rest?
That's real nice calling people cheap! I guess you are one of those people that just **** your money away and line the pockets of these company's that charge stupid prices. I'm not cheap at all but I like to keep my money in My pocket. I would never spend over a grand on a set of headers. 500 or so is good for me and obviosly alot of other people. I'd rather spend the extra money on my wife or kids.
Oh yeah, why you have an old corvette and not a brand new Zo6-- Are ya Cheap???

That's a pretty good deal. Do you have a link of which ones you got from them? Was that just headers?

yeah its a great deal. it was for 1-3/4 headers with AIR tubes, gaskets, bolts, o2 extensions, and a new HD timing chain + shipping $566 out the door.

Kooks, American Racing, or LG Pros... nothing else. Get a premium header made out of stainless and proven to make power. Get cats... no cats makes the car sound obnoxious and stink.

A product from a non-supporting vendor lacks the quality of a banner ad. The banner ad increases horsepower and the amount of QA in the product.

Since people are calling me stupid, let's keep on with the name calling:

You are cheap, uninformed and dumb. Like said above here, there are other headers that are known to be quality and perform that are similarly priced.

Nobody is telling you to buy $1500 headers, I certainly am not. I am not even telling you to spend a grand. I am telling you that SSAC has a horrible reputation and turns out crappy products. I am trying to warn you from the experiences of others that I am aware of.

Please explain this quality from SSAC:

Here are some more happy customers:

Another great header production:

I dunno about you guys, I try to learn from other people's mistakes.

I guess you have missed threads in the past showing holes blown in Kooks headers, LG headers, FLP, Headers, etc.

It happens.

When their Corvette headers start failing left and right I'll be concerned. But for now we have active members in the corvette community redesigning the headers and getting involved, which is a formula for success.

^ Those were only blowing off air tubes... not failures like he's shown. My kooks blew off an air tube and it was replaced for free.

Im not an ss supporter but the pics shown is due to a bad turbo mount.

However ss autochrome is in the business of cheap products from china. they are not a reputable company to deal with in my opinion because of the history of others that have purchased from them.

If you are so concerned with the price of headers simply do not buy them.

They do not provide huge gains alone in the first place.

just adding my .02 but i have to agreee about the ripping people off. i do not think any one here thinks there is no such thing as corvette tax. when u can buy comp. headers for a ls1 f-body for less than haft the price of a vette header in the same name brand thats ripping people off period. not mad about it but it does get old.

my ssac headers are awesome. Fit well and are of great construction. I've been in the performance auto industry for 15 years now and the construction and quality of these headers was/is as good as my dynatechs I had prior at 1/3rd the cost. The welds are top notch as well as the bends of the tubing. My one gripe was the sparg plug clearance but that isn't something that cannot be overcome.

some of this is supply and demand. There is a much larger demand for Fbody parts than there is for C5 parts. There are just that many more on the road so the profits can be less to cover R&D, manufacturing, etc. Not that I approve of vette prices, but you are going to pay more for a set of headers on a ferarri that they make 5,000 of than you are going to pay for a corvette that they make 200,000 of

Last I heard they are roughly 10 to 12 days away from the final test fittment to verify their Jigs and production...

There's another point about the SSAC Headers that I like and that's the fact that the are made out of SUS 321 Stainless Steel...

Had mine for about 6 months, no issues. Did the install in the garage, both headers drop in from the top. My only problem is the "King Ranch" sit in the garage and the vette is the Daily rider , unitl it rain .....lol

someone is mad he spent 2 grand on getting a set of headers installed!

edit: looks like you're mad that a turbo car had an issue. i dont know if you noticed, but turbo vettes dont use longtubes... nor does SSAC make a turbo manifold. most people use stock truck manifolds reversed. either way, we dont drive imports, and dont use turbo manifolds. your point is moot. move on, or get out.

i have the '2nd' version, and had no fitment issues. the a/c line that everyone talks about being too close, i have over 3/8 inch clearance, and no issues of any kind... i do wish that they would have made a complete system, so no ghetto welding would have to be done. but it seems they are doing that now, and i might put my old system up for sale and get these new ones and go with cats this time... just to make it more pleasant for cruising, and not have the gasoline smell.

i have the ssac headers on my car now, and they are fine. for the price, you cant beat them. they are not rusting at all. i would stay away from anything that is NOT stainless. coated or not. depending on the price of these new ones, someone might pick up a HELL of a deal on mine when/if i switch... like under 250 for everything

also, does anyone know if they will be making this with a 3" x pipe and mid section? seems stupid if they are going to do everything, to go through the trouble of a 3 to 2.5 reducer section. im guessing they will do 2.5 though, so it will bolt up to stock exhaust.
