Keeping Tom busy :) Let me see if I can cover the weekend's questions -

Anyway, I am currently putting down 396 rwhp. My questions are, could I get away with the 5# pully (I have a 6 speed car) and still not have issues with detonation on pump gas? Would I need additional computer tuning (it would seem that I would). I know LPE feels the stock internals are good for 500 hp because that is what their stage 1 TT package puts out and the leave the stock internals alone. I have hardened push rods and a beefed up valve train, but the bottom end is bone stock. I DO NOT want an engine problem, what are your thoughts. I know that many people who went the h/c route would probably be interested in your thoughts. BTW, I live in the Chicagoland area, so I would need a REPUTABLE and QUALIFIED installer in this region that would install this kit, which at those prices, is a great bargian. Thanks for your time.
I usually don't recommend raising the compression on a supercharged motor. You usually either want to keep it at the stock level or a little lower if your going to have some head work done. You may be able to get away with running a max of 5# but I'd be hesitant to give you a definate thumbs up. A custom computer program will be needed this and the other mods that you are running. I know of a good installed in IL that might be able to do this for you.

Tom, is this DIY compatible per ATI for one who is reasonably competent, and how would DIY affect the warranty? Thanks.

Also, does ATI have any plans to get a CARB EO# from California? TIA
We have many customers that DIY (do it yourself) without a problem. This is a new kit so I can't give you any feedback on actual reported installation time but I can tell you that alot of people have been able to install the f-body ATI kit in about 12-15 hours which isn't to bad.

ATI is working on making this kit CARB legal in CA, but of course that usually takes awhile.

One question between the two "kits". Your words are : "the intercooled serpentine Race Kit includes the D-1SC ProCharger and excludes the power programming and fuel injectors, but is otherwise identical to the HO Intercooled system". What about the pulley and the belt? Doesn't make sense that that would be the same.
Both kits come with the pulley and belt. The race version doesn't come with programming and injectors.

Is the D1-SC kit the stage 2 kit???

Can we get a "heavy duty" main bracket or will the current bracket suffice??

Can we get an 8 rib drive belt system???

how much extra would they be???
We usually don't refer to the D-1SC as a stage 2 kit but alot of people think of it that way :) I don't believe ATI will be offering a heavy duty main bracket or 8 rib drive system but I can check on this.

I would not be suprised at all if it is illegal in California, this state is all screwed up here!
LOL :) :) :) Everyone that doesn't live in CA wants to and everyone that lives there wants to get out :)

Intel55, this could not be the final ATI kit ?
Tom`s description is "Twin Highflow air to air intercooler" the picture
gas one big intercooler in front of radiator ?
The ATI kit is alittle different than the one pictured but it gives you a good idea what the top half will look like.

So if I win the lottery how much would this setup theoretically make on an all bore 378 purpose built for it? Or would it be better stroking?
I.e. what would be a good combination of purpose built motor and s/c and what kind of power would you expect with it?
If you have a built motor you could go with the D-1SC and crank the boost up to 10-15#. At that point I'd be expecting the car to make over 600 rear wheel horsepower.

Would this kit be OK for 1-2 times a month road racing events?

Tom,

thanks for the replies.. I am alil confused. I thought the D1SC was stage 2?? I think I have seen the f=body guys refer to them as such... What would be stage 2 then??

Also, do you know what pulley sizes refer to each psi?? I think th e3.20 pulley is the 10 psi one?? I basically want to have the ability to run a psi pulley and a 12+ psi pulley on a BUILT motor. So I guess I would order an extra pulley or two. How much are they??

thanks...

It should be fine. We have quite a few customers that use their supercharged cars for road racing.

The D-1SC can be considered the stage 2 kit (we usually call it the race system or the upgrade). This is the Intercooled serpentine race kit. Boost levels will depend on mods that are done to the car. A kit that makes 8# on a stock car may only produce 4-5# on a car with aftermarket heads, cam and exhaust. We'd let ATI know what your mods are and the boost level that you are looking for. They can then figure out what size pulley you will need. Extra pulleys are about $70.

To comment, since a few guys have asked
My shop is located in San Jose, CA and we will install do the Pro-Charger install on your vette.
I have not yet done a Procharger C5, but we have done them on lots of other applications, and have done more Vortec's on LS1 F-bodies than i can count.
Email me for more info

One other thing... Pro-Charger claims that all of their kits go on in 8-12 hours. In my experiance this is rarely the case, they generally take quite a bit more time. I'm guessing this gonna be a 15-20 hour job based on what I have seen in the past.

What will be a typical RPM range for this setup ?
If you have a H&C pkg. reprogrammed for 6800 rev. limiter, would that
be a problem for this SC setup ?

x psi boost at what RPM ???

I guess Turbo is easier that way, because you can dial in max boost, and even with higher RPM you still be safe ?
Any TT guys that can confirm this ?

Some people with a stock bottom end spray a supercharged car with a 35hp shot. But I would be very cautious. That would build alot of cylinder pressure and the head gaskets might not be to happy with this after awhile.

Nothing yet. We probably won't have any pics until after the kits start shipping. We'll be able to get a picture of the parts after a shipment comes in.

Hmm us Florida guys would like to know if Mike Norris could do the install so we would get the warranty.

Also, what kind of RWHP do you think I would see on an A4 with the usual bolt-ons?
