Re: C5 Intercooled ProCharger system now available! (tbyrne)
Tom,
Thanks for keeping us updated with this great information!! I got tired of waiting for a reasonably priced supercharger, so like many others, I went with Cartek stage 2 heads and the gm hotcam, which is 112 lsa. My heads were milled .030, which I believe raised my compression from a stock of 10.1 to 1 to 10.6 to 1. My computer was programmed by Ed Wright and currently I have zero issues with KR or detonation, in fact, I am still running slightly rich.
Anyway, I am currently putting down 396 rwhp. My questions are, could I get away with the 5# pully (I have a 6 speed car) and still not have issues with detonation on pump gas? Would I need additional computer tuning (it would seem that I would). I know LPE feels the stock internals are good for 500 hp because that is what their stage 1 TT package puts out and the leave the stock internals alone. I have hardened push rods and a beefed up valve train, but the bottom end is bone stock. I DO NOT want an engine problem, what are your thoughts. I know that many people who went the h/c route would probably be interested in your thoughts. BTW, I live in the Chicagoland area, so I would need a REPUTABLE and QUALIFIED installer in this region that would install this kit, which at those prices, is a great bargian. Thanks for your time.
Re: C5 Intercooled ProCharger system now available! (O-Ace)
more pics more pics!! :D :D
Thanks ZZ for those that you posted.
I want to see that belt setup.
So to increase the boost you just change out that top pulley??
In those pics it looks like you have three intakes ahahh now that is looks odd :D  :D
Now I just gotta go a sort out the pros and cons of turbo versus sc..
hmmmmm
turbo pro/cons??
Pros:
more efficient, less parasitic loss, broader power band, easy to adjust boost??
Cons: cost, turbo lag, complicated install???
SC pro/cons
Pros:
linear power band, no turbo lag, lower cost than turbo, easier install
Cons:
pulley slippage/breakage, parasitic loss higher than turbo, abnormal wear on bearing #1 due to tension between crank and head, hard to adjust boost???
hmmm maybe I should start a thread on that to get some opinions...
Re: C5 Intercooled ProCharger system now available! (TTRotary)
Great price...now we're talking :D :D :D
Glad I didn't spring for H&C
Tom, is this DIY compatible per ATI for one who is reasonably competent, and how would DIY affect the warranty? Thanks.
Also, does ATI have any plans to get a CARB EO# from California? TIA
I'd also be interested in this information, in regards to DIY and CARB. I'm sure the SC would void warranty on the drivetrain and powertrain though. Also, ATIs website is very sparse with regards to information on this kit. I actually only saw a reference to it in one place. I'm sure this forum will be filling up with information about it as soon as some of us get our hands on it though.
One question between the two "kits". Your words are : "the intercooled serpentine Race Kit includes the D-1SC ProCharger and excludes the power programming and fuel injectors, but is otherwise identical to the HO Intercooled system". What about the pulley and the belt? Doesn't make sense that that would be the same.
Re: C5 Intercooled ProCharger system now available! (intel55)
Here are 3 additional pics I have from Kenny that show the ducting better. The air intake is on the passenger side, routed to the sc, then to the intercooler in front of the radiator, then to the MAF/TB/intake, thus the 3 ductings you see. The third pic is from underneath where you can see the bottom of the intercooler.
For those mentioning the LS6/Z06, note that this setup is on a red Z06.
From the pure asthetics point of view, it may not look as sharp as the Vortech/Carroll setups. However the performance is as good or better, and you do not need to relocate the battery for the intercooler as you do with those.
Re: C5 Intercooled ProCharger system now available! (ZZ)
Intel55, this could not be the final ATI kit ?
Tom`s description is "Twin Highflow air to air intercooler" the picture
gas one big intercooler in front of radiator ?
Re: C5 Intercooled ProCharger system now available! (c5norway)
The pictures I posted MAY NOT be the kit referred to by Tom. It is an ATI Procharger system installed. There is an available upgraded intercooler, and I do not know whether the pictures contain the twin high flow intercooler or in fact are of the upgraded intercooler. I just posted them so you may have an idea of what the system may look like on a C5. The project I am working out will utilize the D1SC and upgraded components including intercooler, so Kenny may have sent me pictures more pertinent to my project.
Sorry for any confusion, I did not mean to imply that this was the exact kit referred to installed, just that it is an ATI system and may give you an idea how it MAY look.
