Took the car out for a drive and it runs like the emergency brake is on. Oil pressure seemed to keep climbing too – 53psi Check Engine light came on. Checked all the connections and they seemed OK. Checked the temps of the cats with the pyrometer and drivers side is 20 degrees C hotter than the passenger. Lots of wet black soot out of both pipes. Car idles fine at first and then falters as the revs go down. Blip the throttle and it picks back up.
Here are the codes thrown…

P0300 Misfire
B0307 Right Activator Feedback Open
B0446 Right Activator Out Of Range

B2284 Battery #2 Fault
U1064 Loss of Communication with BCM
B0851 Battery 1 Out of Range
U1255 Serial Data Line Malfunction
A couple of things to double check on.Make sure the O2's are on the same side they came off of.Also, make sure you don't have a wire on or near a header.Hope its a quick fix.jerry
Check the air bridge seal to be sure it isn't leaking or compromised and causing the MAF to get confused. Double check spark plug wires as it is really easy for the plug boots to not be seated fully. The coil connector should click twice. It is REALLY easy to get air trapped in the new boot as it is pushed over the plug and create a higher pressure that eventually will pop the boot off the plug. A forum member passed on a GREAT tip to prevent this. Slip a nylon wire tie down along side the plug wire where it enters the boot to provide a path for air to escape. Don't know why, but a number of people on here (me included) had problems with #5 plug in particular.

Any suggestions as to what is happening?
lets try to diagnose:
PO171 Lean Bank 1: sounds normal to me...headers cause the car to go lean....you will need a tune.
PO300 Misfire: you have a connection break at either a coil pack, wire, or plug: check and make sure you "Double Click" each wire onto the coil packs....I say again....double click them.
BO307 Right Activator Feedback open/B0446 Right Activator Out Of Range: hopefully someone will chime in on both these....I don't have any knowledge...but it sounds electrical/PCM related.....the car is saying your out of range...probably has to do with Air/Fuel?
All these last codes:
B2282 Battery #1 Fault
B2284 Battery #2 Fault
U1064 Loss of Communication with BCM
B0851 Battery 1 Out of Range
U1255 Serial Data Line Malfunction: sound to me all related to one problem: sounds like you have a ground strap lose or not making a good contact. I have heard there is more then one....check for all wires/straps/grounds. Check also around your starter for anything you might have left off there or loose if you had to move the starter.
Hope this helps....just stay focused and go after it one problem at a time. Also check your O2 sensors...common problem is that they are crossed, but that wouldn't throw battery communication issues or talking to the BCM.

These codes are from the HVAC system. When you set an inside temperature the HVAC control module commands the Air Temperature Actuator(s) to move the vent doors to control inside temperature. B0307 means the feedback signal (door position) from the right Air Temp actuator isn't getting back to the control module. B0446 means that the feedback signal is out of range. FYI, these actuators are under the dash.
I disconnected the battery and uncrossed the front 02 sensors. Started the car up and it ran better, but still rough. Scary thing is that the Cat on the drivers side got RED HOT after a few minutes and the passenger side did not. Shot them with the pyrometer and the drivers cat was 270 C and the passengers was 75 C
There was a hissing behind the drivers cat that I suspect could be a bit of a leak. I'll tighten that one down some more. I was concerned with over tightening the bolts on the clamps.
What about the hot side though. Looked at it this morning and it is quite discoloured compared to the passenger. You can tell it has been hotter.

Check your plugs wires on the driver's side. One of them is not connected and all of that un-burnt fuel is igniting in your cat instead. Do it now because cats don't like to get that hot and I would hate to see you trash a new one.

when i did mine i forgot to connect one of my plugs(was reattaching oil tube) and it did what you said, ran crappy and gave me the misfire code. Car also ran like it had a monster cam in it with all the shaking and blurping it was doing
The non sparking plug/fule in the pipes makes good sense. Thanks.
I installed new plugs, plug wires and cool sox. I reused the metal spark plug caps too. I think I am going to take them of because it is possible that the springs inside of them are preventing me from getting a good "snap" on the spark plugs.
