My balancer went bad so I am replacing it, I noticed that seal was leaking a little bit and the flange on the balancer was a bit scored when I got it off. I picked up the seal but am trying to figure out how to get the old one out without damaging the crank or timing cover. Any suggestions?
The stupid water pump is like 6 bolts and two gaskets. If you are this far into it you might as well do the cam. I did. Now I didn't have to replace the front seal in mine. I had to replace the entire front cover because the original one got trashed when the balancer failed.
The only real work a cam adds is changing out the valve springs. Actually removing the cam and stabbing in the new one is no big deal.
Hey I'm just throwing it out there. If you go to all of the trouble to pull the steering rack, yank the balancer off and remove the water pump, you pretty much have to pull the TC off to get the seal out (its easy, plus it makes installing the new one a breeze. You need a hammer and a block of wood) and you DONT take out the remaining 6 or 7 bolts to slide the cam out, you are officially a PANSY!!!
