I have a 1999 FRC with C5 Z06 rims on it. The rears are in need of new tires. I think they have komos on there right now. Where do you guys buy tires? I'm thinking of ordering the tires off the internet. Tire Rack has a pitiful selection for our cars. I refuse to buy run flats and I think they have like 3 or 4 different kinds to choose from otherwise. Where do you guys order them?
Considered "tracks" being your in Minnesota??
I have the patriot heads and cam on my car which is an A4 -I assume you are M6. If you want to run well on the road the 295/18 GSD3's by Goodyear are a good tire for street and road racing. However, like most tires they only hook up on the street when they have been "warmed" up.
For drag racing and for street "sporty" driving the Nitto Drag Radials are good - they come in the 300 sizes and are not that expensive. Some will say they do not perform well in the rain - this is true if you are performance driving in the rain but I have had no difficulty street driving up to 50 mph in the rain with them -others may differ -obviously this is not a guarantee or endorsement of the tires. You won't get that for anybodies tires. I am looking into (SPELLING !!) Vredestein tires -lots of threads on the Forum about them. Smoothness on the road is somewhat subjective - just put out a thread on it. I drove to Charleston, SC and back (2 hours each way) switched from the drag radials to the GSD3's and my wife didn't notice and she notices everything. I think I noticed a bit more smoothness after the change but again I knew I had changed the tires.
I just put the D3s on my Zo6 and I like them very much. They ride and handle much better than the run flats. Better than the Michilin Pilots on the wife's Vert too.
I was interested in these Vredestein tires or perhaps kumho. However I was going to order them off the web and have a dealer in SD install them where I have the car stored. Here in MN they BREAK EVERYTHING at the shop. It's a shame. My parents transmission just got jacked up during a routine service. They've trashed a 3 or 4 air conditioners in their suburban... broke coolant hoses, etc. etc. etc.
What's a reputable place to order tires off the web?
Anybody here ever mount their own tires? I did a quick google and it looks like it's possible.
Also I have aftermarket Z06 rims w/o the tire pressure sensors. When i have them taken apart I want to put the sensors in. Does anybody know where I can get those sensors?

I too, order from www.tirerack.com and have one of their certified installers put them on. I agree with purerock105 - once you run Goodyear GSD3s, you are spoiled for life - best tires ever!
You can get the sensors at "gmpartshouse.com". They have the cheapest prices (original GM parts !!!). I just bought a set of four two weeks ago for 155 bucks (shipped)
Thanks

More and more cars are using these sensors now days. I noticed some varieties cost as little as $30 a sensor. And I only need the rear two so what exactly do I need to watch for to make sure I get something compatible?
