Timing chain slack

Doesn't really matter. I called quite a few supporting vendors and not a one to be found. I also had my local dealer do an inventory search that turned up one in a dealership in NJ. I called and it was spoken for.

These would be relatively easy to manufacture, and there seems to be a market if you look at this forum and other LSx forums. Surprised no vendors have done that now that the GM piece is out of inventory. You could even make a wide version for double chains.

The damper keeps the chain from flexing past vertical during acceleration and deceleration. It does NOTHING to keep the chain tight. Those extreme movements past the chains vertical alignment with the gears promote excessive chain wear and valve train timing variations. If the chain stretches enough the movement can cause or help cause the chain to break.

It also prevents chain wrap and the chain failure that can arise from the harmonic issue at about 4,000 RPM, which was found to be a problem during high RPM driving.
